Hi guys, after the last iMovie update the new "profiles" section appeared in Settings. Anybody know what this is? Do you have it there too?

I too am seeing that. It appears Apple released an engineering build of iMovie to the public.

Ive had that in mine for awhile now. Mine showed up when I got my new domain setup a year or so ago and I used its little setup file it sent me to add my new domain email to Mail.

That surely was a different profile than this iMovie one. There are a lot of configuration options provided by profiles.

Im sure it was, I was merely pointing out the fact that using my webhosts little email setup profile created that same icon in my System Preferences as well.

Whatever this new Profiles section may mean, one thing is certain, it does not only appear on Macs running Big Sur. My Mac is still running Catalina for hardware reasons. Nevertheless, I discovered the following in the system settings today.

The profiles preference panel has been around for many many years. In most cases, an average user will not see it unless their computer is enrolled in a corporate/educational MDM solution. Profiles are used to manage macOS (and iOS) devices.

In this case, it appears that Apple has pushed out an update to iMovie that installed a provisioning profile. Here is a blog post with more info and how to remove it.

Have apple removed it for fresh install or still appearing?
I just downloaded a new copy and the included profile is now removed from within iMovie. I don't believe it'll remove the existing profile if that profile has already been installed.
