weird password issue

I don't use my Mac Mini often but I don't remember it doing this before 10.16 beta. My password works perfectly fine to login to my Mac, delete apps, etc but refuses to work when I click the lock in settings and type my password. I'm not sure if those are different passwords or not, but I know I've always used the same one for both. Anyone else getting this? Is there a bug fix/workaround for it?

Yeah.. whatever they're calling it now. lol. I tried to reset it in recovery mode and it let me.. but it won't accept the new password. It DOES let me use my old one though.
