Weird problem, menus disappear

Restart... What's the big deal, it fixes lots of tiny quirks. If anything, it should be your first resort.
I'm trying to keep it on as long as possible. I just got it and it's only 2 weeks old, I want to wait so I can brag to my windows friends.
1. Do you have any third party theme changers installed/active?
2. Quite often, logging in and then logging out can have the same effect as a restart.
3. Is this the same across all accounts?
4. Don't be stubborn about a restart if it comes to that. I'm sure your Windows friends will be much more impressed with a working menu-capable-Mac than a faulty one that hasn't been shut down for two weeks.

1. I have one account. I don't have problems with security issues and hackers in the past so no, I don't care about the security issues of a root account.
2. I have relaunched Finder, doesn't always work.
3. It usually corrects itself after I close a lot of opened programs.
4. No theme changers installed or anything, just an Apple desktop

No, your uptime should not be affected by logging in and out.
Have you repaired permissions? The fonts changing and stuff sound suspicious. Especially with as simple a setup as you are describing....

Go into System Prefs > Accounts and create a new account. Go to Login Options and enable fast user switching, switch to the new user (this doesn't log you out) and see if the same problem arises with the new guy.mad jew said:

The problem is, it doesn't always happen. I can go from Firefox with the problem to mail without the problem, back to firefox and it may or may not have the problem. It's weird. I can't tell when it's going to happen or what it is. It's just slightly annoying. It goes away after a few minutes though.neocell said:

Not trying to insult you... But two weeks uptime isin't that long. Plus you got updates to catch
It's long when you've only had it for two weeks and your windows machine usually crashes every 20 minutes or less.

True, but do you suppose your windows friends, whom you are trying to impress, will be particularly taken by your menus with nothing in them?
Repair permissions (by running Disk Utility, selecting the hard drive on the left, and then selecting repair disk permissions), and then reboot. And come back if it's still an issue.
I have menus right now. As I said it doesn't always happen, only sometimes so it's not that big of a problem.

I fully agree. Just restart the thing dude. As mentioned before, it fixes little problems like this, and it really clears out crap that has built up while the mchine was running. If I was your Windows-liking friend, (I HATE WINDOWS!!!
) I would be more impressed with a flawless Mac than one that has a stupid flaw like that ans has been running for two weeks. It sounds like you have exhausted just about every other resort, so just restart!
