Weird problem with MBP

I had a bad screen (samsung panel with yellowish at the bottom issue,) and I took it back to the apple store and they replaced it with a bright LG panel. After that every time I hooked up my macbook pro to my LCD the, the screen on the LCD was too blur and greenish, like when you set the green channel all the way up in Photoshop.
After couple of tests with different LCDs, I realized that this happens only when I connect my MBP to a VGA cable (either Monitors or Projectors) but it works just fine with the DVI cable. anybody knows what the problem is ?

I called the tech support, and they have no idea what might be the source of this issue

my second concern is:
they just sent me a box to sent it back to the tech support center for repair... would you send it back to them or take it back to the apple store? (there is a possibility that they don't have the part in store) which one is more reliable ?

Do you have access to a different DVI to VGA mini cable? It sounds suspiciously like a hardware (i.e, the red channel pins/cables/solder points are bad) and not software.

I assume this because DVI is digital, and VGA is analog with Red, Green and Blue channels... Where DVI can't 'break up', VGA could lose one or more of the channels from a bad connection.

Before I would send it in I'd truck it down to the Apple store and use one of their DVI to VGA cables to see if mine was bad.

Thank you for the response ... I have 4 DVI to VGA adapters, they're all working fine and I have tested with all of them ... on different LCDs and eve projectors.
so it's a hardware issue ?

lol ... I thought the same I took it to the apple store yesterday (OMG it was crowded as hell, the other store got shutdown...), they have to replace the logic board. I hope this is going to be my last visit from genius bar

That seems to be the fix all.. What? It's making noise? Well lets replace that logic board! Huh? The latch doesn't stay shut? Must be the logic board!

Actually, I'd assume in your case it wasn't the logic board per-se, but the video connection soldier points. Same difference though and I'm glad they're looking at it (or have already fixed it).

P.S., sorry for suggesting the mini-DVI cable before; I had originally read your post was regarding a MacBook, not a MBP.

your absolutely right, the guy told me one of the connector's pin is funky, but we're going to replace the logic board ... lol
