Weird Restart Message on 12"PB

Hello, My GF has a 12" PB with Panther on it. It is that last generation PB.
Lately when using it on battery power only (with a fully charged Apple replacement battery) a semi transparent screen pops up and say that the computer must restart hold down the power button to restart. It says this in three or four different languages. The kicker is this turns out to be a never ending cycle, unless I pull the battery out reinsert it and plug the PB into the wall.
We absolutely love this unit it is the prefered lappy in the house. Even over the MBP and the MB.

It's a kernel panic. Have you modified anything recently, like the RAM? Installed any software that might have kernel extensions?

If it's only happening when on battery power, maybe you should take it to an Apple store.

No Sir, no other software other than Onyx for Panther. I have verified and repaired permissions, I was going to through the startup disk in and see if I could verify the disk itself. I do not remeber how to reset the PRAM or I would give that a try too. I did reset the ram tonight, but it has been in this unit for a year and a half now.

That happened to me about 1.5 years ago. I brought to Apple and couldn't reproduce the problem. I left them my laptop over a weekend. So I figured it MUST have been the RAM (by process of elimination) which I bought from Crucial. I called up Crucial and they agreed to send me a replacement stick anyway. And indeed it was the RAM.

But try resetting PRAM first.
