Went to start up new Mac Mini earlier today and at first just got a grey screen then a graphic popped up that toggled between two images (one looked like the side of a laptop and the other like the underside of a mouse?) with what looked like the power button in green. So I gave it a minute and then powered off gave it a sec and turned it back on and then got the prompts for the set up. This happen to anybody else or does anybody know what this was?

The OS may have been "looking for":
- mouse?
- display?
- keyboard?

... in order to start up.

I powered it off and restarted and it seemed normal - hope that was okay.

Now my monitor is useless with this computer and I can't get to it - must have forced shutdown a half dozen times last night to try and resolve. I don't think this can be good?

Seems like no one here has any suggestions so will probably pack it up to return in a few minutes - my patience with this computer is gone.

Tell us about your monitor.

What manufacturer?
What model number?
What kind of ports does it have on the back?

The monitor is connected to the Mini via HDMI - only had it up for a few hours and was not on it really. When I had time to sit down and start configuring it, I was trying to adjust the monitor (it wasn't very crisp and too bright) - I was in display system preferences when I must have hit something (might have been refresh rate) and the screen went black and gave me an "Input Not Support" text that just floats on the screen. So far I have:

Turned the monitor on/off
Disconnected the monitor's power
Disconnected the HDMI cable
Forced shutdown the Mini and restart
Forced shutdown the Mini and reset of Pram

Nothing has worked and there is no way to access the computer. This seems so counter intuitive that something in display system preferences would kick the monitor off and not revert if whatever being requested was not supported by the said monitor.

Elvis has left the building! No further assistance needed - Thanks.

Hi,
You might want to try resetting the monitor to its default state.

This is what AOC says about your error message in this page:
http://www.aocmonitorap.com/sg/faq.php

"Monitor displays "Input Not Supported".
This means the computer is sending an incompatible display mode to your monitor. Please check the user manual for supported display modes or inputs and configure your computer to those settings."

Thanks - I had stumbled on that last night. The error was coming from the new Mini. When I plugged in my old Mini it recognized it right away and I was able to use it immediately.
