Seems to be only in Apple TV+ where now the audio is funky only in AppleTV. If you start playing for example the Mariah's new Christmas special you notice it right away when the Apple TV logo first appears when the video starts.

Doesn't matter which show. I have Rise of Skywalker downloaded and it does it.

Trying Music don't hear it, Amazon Prime shows/movies don't hear it. Youtube don't hear it. Resarted/Shut down same.

I experience the same when playing back video through the TV App. Kind of distorted and echoey/warbly, like it's been set to use too small buffers for sound or similar. Like you I think it's app specific.

EDIT: Bugreport posted at https://www.apple.com/feedback/apple-tv-app/. I'd encourage anybody who experiences this issue to do the same to get eyes on the problem.

Thank you for responding…I had decided to just return it today. I thought again with what I have currently have…I think I still want to replace my 2012 imac with the new version coming and stick to my ipad Pro for around the house stuff.

I restored the OS and it still did the same thing and ran a diagnostic and it didn‘t report anything.
I think you’re right about the buffer thing..sometimes I could catch it where the sound would start off ok and then as the video played it got weird.

Same problem here.....It happened on the Trailer for "Dr Seuss' The Grinch", particularly if the trailer is played in fullscreen as opposed to normal view on my 2021 M1 Pro 16" MacBook Pro. I posted a bug report too. Thanks for link.

Same issue. I have attached a recording of it, just in case people are trying to work out if they are having same problem.

I'm having this issue on Safari when watching videos on Hulu and other streaming sites.

Haven't been able to replicate it on the Apple TV app yet but I'm sure it's probably an issue there too depending on the movie.

I had the same problem as the video above. MacBook Pro 16 in, M1 Pro in Apple TV Plus app.

I fixed it.

Open Audio Midi Setup Utility from the Utilities folder.

Open Audio Devices window.

Select MacBook Pro Speakers.

In the dropdown, select 48000 HZ instead of 44000 HZ.

That fixed it for me.

Just created an account to post a solution. The same problems been occurring my on my new MBP 16 but a helpful user on the r/macbookpro subreddit (acorns50728) mentioned changing the sample rate of the MacBookPro speakers output to 96 kHz via the Audio Midi Tool. This solved the issue for me.

The warbling effect only happened to me twice very briefly. Always happened when I was watching movie or played music and then I did something graphically intensive in another app. It's just a bug that will be fixed.

Thanks for this. Putting it at 48kHz did the trick. N

Just had the same issue. The Audio Midi thing fixed it. What a nasty bug.
Thanks a lot!
