I have 12" PB and today when I was at school, I was using the wifi as usual, and then I had lecture and I lost my wifi. but heres the weird thing. everyone else using PC laptops had wifi. I noticed someoen else iwth a 12" pb and asked him if his wifi was working and he said now. so I ask, whats the difference with this "airport extreme" thats different than the wifi cards on pc laptops that made me suffer through my boring lecture today?

You were able to use Wifi before, yet when you were in a different area you could not?
Did you check the Airport tab in the Menu bar to see if there were any networks around?
There shouldn't be a big diiference with the cards that the PCs have and yours, they all have to comply to set stardards so you should be able to connect as well
If you find no networks in that area it might simply be hidden, you could check with on of the PC users to see what setting they have

I've expererienced the exact same thing with a 12" PB. The antennas on the PCs are probably better than in the PB. That's my experience anyway.
I switch from a 12" PB to a 12" iBook (stupid me), and the iBook definitely detects more networks and has a stronger reception.

Check your antenna connection. You can get to it from the RAM slot in your power book. I've had good luck with wifi but did loose my home signal once. Had to reboot.
Maybe using Intereference Robustness would help? That helps to amplify the signal of your airport doesn't it?
The signal on PowerBooks isn't as good as the signal on some PCs, mostly because the Aluminum body does a good job at blocking the Airport signals. Plastic cases don't do this as much. Usually the best thing to do is to find out the general area that the signal is come from and sit as close to it as possible.
