I loaded a CD to rip in iTunes, and instead of the usual CD disk the FireFox logo was there with the CD name below it.

I have no idea how this occurred or how to change it back.

Ok . . . I will go into more detail.

When I insert a normal audio CD, I get the Firefox icon whether I have it set up in system preferences for it to go through Finder or iTunes.

When I insert a CD-RW, I get a normal icon when I have have it set up both ways mentioned above.

When I insert a CD-R whether burnt or blank, I get the Firefox icon with both ways.

Thanks for any and all help. I am assuming it is a preference file somewhere messed up.

hmm...

Most OS X icons are stored here:

/System/Library/CoreServices/SystemIcons.bundle/Contents/Resources/

I'd go there are see if the correct icons for CDs are there. If not, download a new set of OS X icons and replace it.

insert cd, right/ctrl click and get info, in the info pane is the icon FF? if so click on it so that it is highlighted blue, press delete and it should revert back to normal

How do I go about installing the new icon. Well, how do I make it so the OS recognizes that the new icon is the one it is supposed to use when there is an Audio CD present?

ignore this . . . thanks . .. what caused this to occur??

Repair permissions, then restart. Your problems will be fixed.

The icon data is stored in one central file, which can get damaged rather easily. Repairing permissions and restarting will fix this issue, and thus your icons.
