So I got my 20" iMac two days ago.
All was cool till I loaded up XP on bootcamp and realized my screen is alive!
WTF?!

Every single gradient color simply displays like a old interlaced picture where you could see those tiny stripes going from one side to another and they are actually moving! 5 minutes and my eyes bleed!

I wont even go further how ****** gradient colors look on OS X but I'm shocked what kind of piece of **** this iMac is.

I am a very happy macbook owner but this 'something' is a joke.
I'm going to the apple store tomorrow to return it and if they tell me that I have to pay the restocking fee things will go wild.

Also any of you seen under bootcamp that video card displays a 2600 XT and on OS X 2600 PRO??

wtf lol

have you tried calibrating the monitor
thats prolly all you need
otherwise you got a dud monitor

BTW: apple will charge you a restocking fee for returning your mac

Why would they charge a restocking fee? Are you returning it, or exchanging it?

Well I just got back from apple store.
I was lucky to meet a cool store manager and we went thru all that stuff and he was shocked just as I was.
I was told it's the first time ever they seen such graphics distortion (even if they would see 1000 of them I wouldn't be told I'm sure) but without a word they let me exchange it for the 24" model not having to pay the restocking fee.

Now the 24"... That's quality. Works like a charm and display is awesome. My faith in apple got restored a bit... for now:p

yea well wen i tried using boot camp on my macbook it woulnt see the keyboard and nothing worked and then i panicked and didnt know what to do until somone on here did i would but when i use parallels 3.0 it works fine

So, they upgraded you to a 24" for your troubles. It seems like they did right by you, no?

Yes they were very nice. Which is not always the case when I go there.

im just thinking it seems apple has gotton cheaper when coming to computers now ever since they put intels theyve been getting cheaper and more things tend to break

I see a little different pattern here.
The lower models are actually low in quality which equals lower price.
Before Apple was Apple. Now for me they seem to be getting very cheap with every new generation that's coming out so I suggest you all to stay away from low/mid range products.
Don't get me wrong, I'm working for the past 3 hours with Poser 7 on the 24" and I truly love it but that 20" was so crap I just couldn't believe it.
Quad or 2x quad core would certainly make my day by for my budged I do not think anything can beat the 24" considering it's all in one.

I know Mac Pro will see my room in the next 4-5 months and the 24" will be used as a workhorse with RenderCow but for now I'm very happy :)

Nope. Just after realizing that it's 21st century and 6bit screen in a $1600 product is a joke.

Are you talking about value or quality? Because you threw me off when you said the lower models are low in quality and that "the 20" was crap" - I thought you were talking about quality. If you are talking about value, that is a whole different ball game. Especially because the value of a Mac is so different than the value of a PC, and different to different people.

i could dissagree on the value cause since the macs have gotton the intel processers ive seen macbooks being cheaper than powerbook g4s and all the ppc are like still have there value and havent gone down as much as the intels as they were not that old
