Well done Apple. If this happened on Xbox or PS4 there would be an outcry.

Apple should refund people for the apps they bought and can’t use.

For years apps randomly stop working but this update seems to have finished off half my apps.

If the app is still supported then it’s up to the developers to get it ready for iOS 11, they have had 3 months already!!!

32 bit apps don't run anymore. If you'd used these valuable apps in the last six months you'd have been warned that they were detrimental. If you'd used them since June you'd have been warned they won't work. Perhaps you didn't use them?

I'm assuming most were 32 bit. If not, see post above.

That’s the developers fault for not updating to 64bit not Apples. Don’t blame apple. They’ve been going this way for years. Warnings have been out for a while

You don’t buy Fifa 17 and expect a free update to Fifa 18 on a games console.

I read an article online saying it wasn’t even nessessary for Apple to do this.

You mean this change that Apple has told developers has been coming since at least late 2014?

In 10.3, you can also check which apps are 32 bit by going Settings-General-About-Applications. All of the ones on my phone were last updated in 2011-13 so the developers have left them in the dust for a long time...

Doesn’t matter. Developers had a bunch of time to update their apps. They either got lazy or just don’t care.

I read an article online saying it was totally necessary for Apple to do this.

Yeah. It sucks. Hopefully they would make 64 bits apps.

They give free bug fixes, not major releases. Developers that build games like fifa make millions, not like the apple App Store where developers are lucky if they make a few pounds/dollars per month. The big names will have or will just about to update their apps that fix any issues.

Now you guys are fragmented. I heard about the fragmentation in the old days of Android tablet apps.

There's no fragmentation. Apple stopped accepting 32 bit apps LONG ago, I too believe 2 years or more.

Any 32 bit apps haven't been updated in YEARS; ie. abandoned by their developers. Blame the developers for abandoning their apps, but it's time people move on from them.

Correct, but there was lots of publicity around iOS11 not supporting 32-bit apps, and the iOS upgrade isn't compulsory. You could have stayed on iOS10.

My poor iPad mini is still on iOS9. It runs 32-bit apps great!

Apple has been communicating the end of 32-bit apps for years. Not months. Years. And to use the console games as an example is like comparing apples to oranges. New console? Ooops, won't be backwards compatible. So yes, it does happen elsewhere. With less warning, by the way.
