So I've had an iPhone for about a month and I joined these forums to make sure everybody knew how much I loved it.

Now I just had an incident with my Windoze Wista computer where I had to reinstall everything because of a virus (I know, I know). So I'm seriously considering getting a mac. I really want to but my windows computer is working fine now. I have the money sitting in savings so that's not an issue. I figure since I have a laptop already I should get the iMac.

I've read a lot of threads similar to the one I'm starting here and I hear the same thing over and over. "If you want it, get it!!" Whatever. Convince me!! Is the transition from Windows to Mac difficult?? I remember using my ex girlfriends mac a couple years ago and feeling clueless...

I got an iPhone last July.

Then my wife got an iMac 20" Aluminum in December.

I then got a MacBook in January.

I wish we hadn't waited so long. I have been using a PC for as long as I can remember.

IMO everything is just easier with a Mac. Yes there are some devices and programs that don't work with Mac. You can always upgrade those as well.

I say go for it. You will not be upset with your choice.

No, I'm not going to try to convince you with words. Go to an Apple Store and try one. Have a rep demo it for you. Or better yet, if you have a good friend that has one, beg him/her to demo for you. The proof is in the pudding...no OS or computer product is perfect...they all have bugs. It just comes down to what works for you.

So, with that said, "If you want it, get it!!" LOL

Well as with any Apple product, they look damn sexy. That's a big thing for me. But functionality and my need for ease of use doesn't just go out the window cuz of that. I'll admit now that I'm done with college I use my computer mostly for entertainment and music management. And obviously Apple is going to be better for the music aspect since I already use iTunes...

If you know iTunes, you know most Apple-native app. Most apps use the same GUI-style as iTunes.

Now that I think about it, I have no reason NOT to get it. I've been using a Mac-like windows computer for a while now. I have all of my files set to open with one click. I use Safari as my browswer. And iTunes is my default player for all of my media (WMP is BALLS). I guess I'm just nervous about going out and spending two grand on a new computer when the one I have is perfectly functional. I did the same thing with my iPhone when my BB Pearl was perfectly fine. But I'll admit, I have no regrets about that one. All smiles! :D:D

Have fun at the Apple store tomorrow. :D

Let us know what you get.

We had four working PC's when we got our first Mac in December.

It's so hard to resist! Doesn't help that I have the next three days off with no real solid plans!

Wait for the update. There will be an update in the next 3 months. Now, whether its this tuesday or 3 months from this tuesday is up for debate.

I'm here!

Here I am at the Apple store in Tysons Corner... Typing this on the 24 inch iMac. Man oh man is this thing sick or what...

I'm pretty much sold. Just thought I'd drop in and let the community know there's been another conversion! Cheers!

Cheers! You should post a photo of your new iMac on this thread.
Welcome to the cult! :apple:

So I've decided Thursday is the day... I'll put pics up when I get her home and set up! :D

Cool! You are in the same boat as I am. My mini should be here Tomorrow (dam UPS didnt deliver today, because I work and wasnt at home - guess I'll quit my job so I can be at home for deliveries:mad:). Ready to start enjoying "the other side":) when I finally get it.

Anyway, can anyone let me know what issues I may have reloading iTunes on my new mac for my iPhone? It was loaded on my old PC but now I want my Mac to run it. Anything I may run into by loading iTunes again (same account I assume) and starting fresh with itunes or will it just be a "log in, load and go"?

I dont have any music that I care about in my old computer/iTunes, just an external 500gb drive with some Mp3 / Mp4's on it that I'll hook to my Mac. It's where I store all of my music/movie files.

Thanks!
W

Enjoy it!! You won't be disappointed. My girlfriend was in the "Mac is stupid" club for years because all she knew was winblows. After hearing issues with Vista I finally convinced her to get a MacBook Pro this year. She loved it so much that she went and got a 20" iMac and an iPhone because she wanted anything by Apple. She now works on "converting" PC users at her school as she has been bitten by the Apple bug. I bet it won't be long before you are singing its praises.
