It's so good to be back here! I've been banned for a month. Thank goodness it wasn't longer. I've been having to deal with all those other crappy forums out there, where no one has a sense of humor, and theres about 2 people online at once...... anyway....

I just ordered my Mac Pro and I'm excited about it, so I thought i'd just let you guys know.

I sold my MDD G4 setup for $1300 to help pay for it.

This is what I got:

Estimated Ship:
3-4 weeks

Specifications

Two 3GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon
2GB (4 x 512MB)
250GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB (2 x dual-link DVI)
Two 16x SuperDrives
Both Bluetooth 2.0+EDR and AirPort Extreme
Apple Keyboard and Mighty Mouse - U.S. English
Mac OS X - U.S. English

Subtotal $3,765.00

I'll be ordering a 23" ACD at some point between now and when the system ships. I don't want some brand new delicious looking moniter sitting around my house making me wish the computer was there.

Anyway that's it.

i don't want to be a downer or anything, but I really don't think this thread should exist. Nothing personal against you, this thread is just a great example of what these forums don't need. If you must let everybody know what system you bought, perhaps put it in the Buying tips, advice, and discussion forum. Even if it was in that forum I don't really understand the point besides for bragging maybe?

Sorry to take out my frustration on you, but it seems like people don't think before they post and end up cluttering up the forums with worthless "i just ordered my ::insert mac here::" It's one thing if you have a question about a certain system, but geez, who cares what you ordered.

Mods, feel free to delete my post if need be, I just needed a place to vent my frustration.

Honestly, with the post you made, you sound like you're jealous or sour yourself because you don't have a Quad 3GHZ Mac Pro. When I got my first Mac, I was very happy. I posted on MR letting people know how excited I was.

Don't be so mean spirited, it's not good for you.

I think he is commenting more generally on the large amount of "got my Mac Pro" threads lately, when there are at least three or more threads on the machine specifically, which would be a better place to share that information and talk to other new owners about the configuration. This is more of a "hey look at me thread."

Don't think there is anythign wrong with sharing, this just had a bit of brag factor to it. I know, I have a bad habit of doing it myself sometimes. ;)

Nah, I'm not jealous at all. If I wanted one I would buy one. It's just like what iGary had said, there have been many of these types of threads and I just don't think that a new thread is necessary for every person who orders one.

I think a great solution would be to create an "Official ::insert new product here:: Owner's Thread" which then could be a central thread to post what you've ordered, and when you get it your impressions of the system. It would provide great information in a single useful thread rather than many seperate threads.

I plan on taking a very extensive a detailed series of photos of unpacking the thing and setting it up! :)

I didn't get applecare for the Mac Pro so I didn't lose anything by not ordering the moniter with it. I never get applecare.

Also, i'd be happy to perform any benchmarking tests that anyone would like me to do, once I get the machine.

edit: If I decide to buy applecare within the first year, will it cover both the computer and moniter if they were in the same order? And if they weren't in the same order it won't cover them both?

In response to your question, I believe that AppleCare purchased separately will also cover the display on the same order.
