please dont laugh at me here

since i've been going to buy my imac i have been thinking how good it will be to use a mac again since my G3 8 years ago, but the more I think about it the more I remember how many problems I had, many of them where constant freezing and constantly having to reinstall the OS and I even had the apple stor blow up the machine by swapping the voltage

so anyway now I have sold my pc i keep thinking what if this goes wrong with the mac, what it that goes wrong, what it i cant do some things and so on

have any other pc users felt this way when switching to mac, if so what did you think afterwords. And also what if there is a major problem with the mac within the first month and I take it to the store, can I get a full refund

again as I said i'm just a bit nervous about the switch and because its also alot of money

Were you using OS 9 or OS X on the G3?

While I really liked OS 9, OS X is much more stable in my use.

There are some hardware problems, but that comes with all hardware.

I have a mini and non-apple 24" monitor and the monitor bit the dust over Xmas. I had to use my old CRT (yuck) for a couple of weeks while it was out for repair (thank you 3 year warranty).

it was os9 and i've never really used osx so thats another reason i'm nervous seeing as i've used xp and vista for so long

I was apprehensive about the switch at first but now I wish I would have done this years ago when I wanted the smoke iMac G3 and then the G5. I'm after a G4 for the kitchen right now but that's besides the point.

I haven't ran into any issues with finding software or apps. I'm very happy. :D:apple:

Wow! I never had to reinstall OS 9 during the entire time I used it. I did have to recover from a backup due to a failed hard drive, but I wouldn't consider that a reinstall. There must've been something wrong with your G3.

you know i just ordered a new custom 17" macbook pro, which is very expensive and i'm like great what if i have a problem with it.

but then i think back to an hour ago when my Dell just shut off, and the blue screen of death then came up, and how it fezzes 400 times a day, and how i've had to get it worked on like 6 times, and how almost every day this computer more or less blows up on top of a million small errors.

then i think how the last 4 years in college i used a mac extensively and never had an issue.

so sure it is a big purchase so it is normall to worry, but i am ready to move on and for the better.

and hey i got applecare, and apples customer service is rated the highest. even if i have issues with them, i'm thinking it will be far less issues than i've had dealing with dell.

If something is wrong with it then you can always exchange it.

If you really think about it, anything you buy that you current own or will own you could say the same thing about those items.

Dont worry then you will be afraid all your life scared to own anything great.

I've been on same situation. I've used Mac in stores and few friends have Macs. My PC keep constantly crashing and it's too slow for things what I do. Mac is the best, trust me. You'll never have to worry about viruses and other spyware. Secondly they are much faster and build from best parts available. PCs die, Macs don't. Many people still uses G3 and G4, which would be impossible with exactly same hardware on PC, becouse they just die, too many viruses.

Switch it dude, you'll never have to worry about slowness or crashing anymore.
