For months, I was gung-ho about waiting for the Haswell-EP refresh of the Mac Pro. I was saving up for the configuration I wanted (Stock six-core model, with the 512GB SSD, plus AppleCare).

But after seeing the deal on Adorama, I just pulled the trigger, and just ordered the 1TB SSD from Amazon as well. All in all, I'm saving a bit more than $1200. That was enough of a savings to get me to stop waiting, plus now I have adequate storage.

Inevitably, this means that a Mac Pro refresh will happen in 30 days, so for those still waiting, enjoy! I'm quite happy with my decision, and that I'm officially joining the Mac Pro family :)

EDIT: Side question...does anyone know the best way to repurpose the 256 PCIe flash that I will have lying around? Are there any external USB3 or TB enclosures for it? Thank you!

Yes, I also went for the Adorama special pricing. I got the MP6,1 with 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, Dual D700s + 3yr AppleCare + Apple TV + Free S&H for $5388.30.

I've bought the 64GB (4x 16GB modules) from OWC for $799 and will trade in the stock Apple's 16GB (4x 4GB modules) to OWC for $100. Thus making the 64GB cost $699.

Cost Adorama+OWC = $6087.30

Compared to Apple Store's pricing for the same hardware the price would be including taxes some $7607. Thus a savings of some $1520 was realized.

Even more so if you count the tax that you didn't have to spend on that $1520 that was saved.

Yup, that was a contributor to my decision as well. And I'm a student, so I was basing my cost from Apple with the included student discount. The deal was just too good to pass up.

Why didn't you just send a PM to Welp?

That's my kind of humor.

You made me go look to see if there was a MacRumors user named Welp and there is not. Then after I typed the word welp is showed up as not being spelled correctly so I then had to research the word with a quick Google search.

welp : To be used in place of 'well', when one feels there is no more to say.

That is from the Urban Dictionary so take it for what its worth. It was just the first Google search result.
