The first time I went to get my USB power adaptor replaced as my first replacement had been shorted out by an outlet in my house as did my original. So at this point I was on my third adaptor. I thought it was only the top outlet so I used the bottom, only for it to get shorted out again. I had an extra Palm charger laying around so I didn't bother with getting it replaced until I accidentally sent my EarPods through the washer, causing the audio to be extremely washed out on the right side.

Anyway, I don't go overboard with the jailbreaking and make sure that whatever packages I install won't decrease my iPhone/iOS experience. The first time I just had a pokeball slider knob, five icon dock, silent status bar icon, date in the status bar, Apple logo in place of the carrier logo, and Cydia all visible to the Apple employee and she didn't pay any notice to it even though I know she had to have seen it. I got my adaptor replaced without any problem and my warranty was left untouched. The second time I had a weird feeling so I put Cydia into a folder, even though it was obvious a jailbreak folder due to it being named "#Haxors," and moved one of the five icons on my dock to the springboard where Cydia was previously located. Albeit I'm sure he probably knew still, it was just less subtle and I was still under the impression he wouldn't care. He did some test, tried different adaptors and lightning cords, then replaced my adaptor and EarPords without even testing the EarPords themselves. The only thing he said about my warranty is that it's the last time they'll be able to replace the USB power adaptor, which was definitely understandable due to it being the third or fourth time; I just won't use that outlet anymore and wasn't planning on it.

Maybe they would have voided my warranty if I was having an issue with a bunch of jailbreak packages obviously causing it, like battery life, performance, etc. Hell, I'm sure even if that was the case and I couldn't fix it for myself for some reason that they would at least attempt to restore it as a solution. Basically my point is they won't void your warranty simply because your iPhone is jailbroken.

Sorry if I started to ramble or confused you, I'm a little high.

I'm so confused as to why my new threads don't show up on the New Posts section like they used to.

Apple store really doesn't care I've brang in a bricked 3GS one time that was obviously bricked because of me, they replaced it for me, no problem

Eh, depends on how it's bricked. It could have happened "during a faulty restore." I've just seen way more people than I should, on here and in my personal live, claim your warranty is instantly voided than I if you jailbreak and I can't help but to chuckle every time.

I made a custom ipsw and choose the wrong baseband

i'm sure it helped your cause that you actually didn't need the phone to be replaced. if you were having troubles the phone itself, you might have seen more scrutiny.

They don't care unless the problem has been caused by a jaibreak. And even then, depending on who you'll get - they'll DFU restore it, and go from there :p.

It' depends what you need and who you get. I've seen genius show off there jailbroken phones before. I've also seen and heard genius blame everything and anything on the jailbreak. the reason we always tell everybody to restore 1st. Better safe then sorry 20-30 minutes work could save somebody's warranty or getting serviced. ;)

i brought my jb'd phone in to the geniusbar (14th street manhattan) last year, with an erratic power button. they looked at it, told me to remove the jailbreak and i could come back and they'd fix it... :(

got a new iphone instead... :D

Jailbreaking has nothing to do with a power cord, but if something was wrong with the phone itself i bet the wouldnt cover it.

OP - Your mileage may vary. The results of your experience isn't the norm for everyone else. Two random geniuses who didn't care about a jailbroken iphone, doesn't represent the whole community of Apple geniuses and their policy on jailbroken iphones.

Lolololwut. I'm pretty sure they would know what terminologies unlocking, custom IPSW, custom baseband, jailbreaking, etc, are.

Most the people that work at the apple store are just regular people that are trained to be a "genius". They teach them what they need to know

So you BOUGHT a NEW PHONE instead of spending aprox. 30 seconds of work and a lunch break of waiting to get a new one for FREE...(??)

I'll never understand humanity.

I just feel if they really wanted to that with me they cold have pulled some crap about the jailbreak needing more power, causing the usb power adaptor to short out. That probably didn't make any sense, haha.

Yeah.. I'd rather just restore it. And in a case like his if I were trying to get the phone replaced I'd remove it. I just feel if they really wanted to that with me

Yah, people who work at the apple store are all idiots.

Facepalm. >.< I know several Apple employees that jailbreak and have known about it for awhile. For the most part, especially in the past, they were to just act like it didn't exist unless a scenario where a customer had a jailbroken iDevice in for help. They're not oblivious.

new one for free? who said i'd get a new phone??

even if they fixed the button on my 3GS, i was entitled to an upgrade from at&t, and got a 4S really cheap...which i'm much happier about.

not good to make assumptions, better to know the whole story...

Then tell us the story instead of sounding like an entitled child, man...

Sorry about that!

And apple doesn't fix iPhones aside from a broken 4/S back panel - they replace them, and in many cases a button would be free.

if they'd replaced my phone, it would have most likely been another 3GS; i decided this was a great chance to get a newer model.

if i'd known my story was so important to you, would have told more of it.
it's not THAT important, really...
