Hi all,

A bit stressed out. Accepted a new job as a practice development manager role, been in this field for years. Supposed to be moving to the new state in the coming months, boss and manager aren’t too worried about it - at least during the sign-on process in March. Lately I’ve been asked if I’ve moved yet…it’s in motion still.

I do not have admin rights and I have a MBP work laptop. Is there a way to vpn to the state I’m supposed to be in? I am not allowed to ‘forget this network’ without admin rights so I’m automatically connecting to my current Wi-Fi regardless. Is there anyway to bypass this or make it look moreso like I’m in that state or at least connected to a server that’s closer? Can they even monitor and check where exactly I am? Can I hotspot to my phone and vpn from my phone?

Curious if there’s a temporary work around to buy me time on finding a new spot to live out there.

Thanks

It would be better to just ask the IT team in your new company for help, or at least be honest about it.

Anyone familiar with networking can determine if you are connecting via a VPN, not to mention you don't have the admin permissions to the MBP.
