I love this pic. :D My HP looks even messier, since it's got a junky CRT, webcam w/a mini-tripod, speakers, ethernet cables, and a Linksys WUSB54G wireless adapter. I can't wait to chuck that thing and get the new iMac.

I have that DELL setup currently...ordered my IMAC yesterday and cannot wait!

Went to the Apple Store, and they look great!

It's a bit silly but I have a question. Is the back of the new iMac black or is it silver like the front and only looks like that because of the lighting? Just wondered as all the pictures I have seen suggest the back is black. Thanks.

If they wanted to show how clutter free it is I don't see why they didn't use a wireless keyboard and mouse.

The back is black...

At the Apple Store last night...the old IMACs looked ancient compared to the new ones...it was like looking at the old IPODs.

Dont say that the prices are so low they make it almost impossible not to buy. I mean £700 for the bottom end iMac that is ridiculous. I already have a 20" Core 2 Duo 2.16 GHz iMac.

How is it unrealistic? Replace the wired keyboard and mouse with bluetooth wireless, wireless printing, wireless internet access...

i know i have cable clutter with my iMac because i use more than just a keyboard and mouse with it. and of course their going to make the PC as messy as possible, but some of those can be made wireless too with different accessories, granted not all, but at least the mouse and keyboard probably.

Agreed. When I got my iMac last year, I had wireless everything, and the only cable was the power cable that was powering the iMac!

Well the Dell can have a wireless mouse and keyboard as well. It might not make it's point so well. I think it's trying to show how great it is out of the box. Which is the point of the iMac.

Correct.

But they did exaggerate things greatly with the Dell. They, too, have many wireless peripherals and you can lessen the clutter. :apple: My PC setup is very clean....

They wanted to show WHAT YOU GET. Not what you can have for more bux. So the lines.

And true- that isn;t unrealistic at all, unless you are some peripheral junkie/slob. If that's the case; get a Pro. I did. Hid all that crap in the case now.

Now add an HD and an external USB hub to that imac setup to make it realistically closer to a typical low end dell in terms of upgradability which will have room for a few more HD's inside and will likely have more USB ports (maybe 8). If you need another optical drive, then you can add an external one.

I think the imac is great for anyone that doesnt need to ever upgrade their computer or expect it to grow with them. I personally always like towers so the Mac Pro would be the style i'd go for but I dont have one because I'm not willing to pay for a Mac Pro.

When Apple comes out with a Core2 Duo or Core2 Quad based tower priced at 50% the price of the pro, then it will make sense for me :)
