This is a dual 2.7ghz Powermac with nothing in it except the case, motherboard and cpu and it sold for $1944 with $29 shipping.

You can get this same machine from the apple store for $2149 refurbished with one year warranty and it comes with keyboard, mouse, power cord, box, ram, hard drive, superdrive, video card and peace of mind. Ebayers never stop to amaze me. This makes the refurb very attractive.

Looks more like a stolen unit judging by the tag on that 4th picture. I don't know many home users who put ID #s on their desktop computers.

I once sold a free give away poster for $30 on ebay. Some people are huge suckers.

Well at least the customer wasn't COMPLETELY screwed. It still has the case, mobo, and processors which are the most important parts.

When it was at $860 I thought wow that would be a great buy at $900. I have all those parts that are missing and I could fix it up and sell my Dual 2ghz for more. I never thought it would go that high. What a loser. Oh and look at that sellers feedback. I emailed him about it 3 days ago and never got a reply back. He is the worst.

Actually, I have a sticker on my PowerMac from when I took it into an Authorized Apple Service Provider. It's not like the sticker in the picture, but I can understand why someone might have a sticker on a home machine with a number, as depicted.

It always amazes me that people with that bad feedback still have buyers. Especially when you email them and they don't respond as well! I'd avoid a seller like that like the plague, it's not worth the risk.

I wonder if they realise how many potential customers they put off by giving such bad service? Then again, when there's people out there willing to pay almost $2000 for half a computer, I suppose they couldn't care less if we don't bid!

Just one more reason that I will never use ebay. The potential of getting a deal is not worth the risk of getting screwed.

For the amount the buyer is spending he had a lot of better options...:rolleyes:

4) Sell for 95% of buying price
5) Sell the rest of its guts away

Yeah something seems fishy. The label starts with "CPE..." which usually stands for Customer Premesis Equipt. They dont usually put that on student's computers.

Exactly. The seller has his own store and if you bother to read the listing he's included that ID "cpe15099" at the top of the listing and similar numbers appear at the top of all his other auctions.


I agree the winning bid seems rather high if you can get a refurb for $200 more... but not all people know about the refurb store and perhaps it seemed an attractive deal compared to the usual full price. Some people just don't do their research before bidding on eBay. If you look at the bid history it looks as though the winner just put a last minute bid on and won... perhaps they didn't even read the listing properly!

A: Ouch. Try calling apple?

Q: Yes but he won't return my emails.

A: Ouch. You are screwed. How much did you pay for it?

Q: Total $2600.

A: OUCH! You could have got a new one for that. SUCKER!
