shouldn't there be a Digital Performer for OSX in late autumn this year? i think it's really late autumn now. somebody has any thoughts of that? and what about motus firewire-support for OSX? there is a beta release out for some time now, but only for the 828ers, not for my 896ers. since motu is manly focusing on the mac-market, they really should push harder now on OSX.

Digital Audio

I've been using Logic for the last 5 years. The fact that Apple bought the company and the fact that it is only second to Protools, there is no other choice.
I woulden't even consider another piece of digital recording software. As for MIDI sequencer recording this is the most powerful.
You aren't going to find a program with greater support than one owned and operated by APPLE.

oh, mizunderstood

In fact, I mainly use Logic Platinum. The only problem is, that Logic is available on OSX and I'd like to switch from 9 (and be it only for testing purpose). But I use two 896ers as Audio-Interfaces (indeed very, very sweet pieces of technic), and they aren't yet providing OSX funktionality (what will be given by MAS for OSX). Kinda poor by motu.

Regards.

well i don't like logic, i like dp3 better and i am anxiously waiting its release for os x...it better be soon!! they said 2nd half..so they got lesss than a month left!

My wait for Cubase SX is over but until Emagic brings out Sounddiver for OS X (or maybe even MOTU ships Unisyn for OS X). I'm still stuck using OS 9 for audio or I lose my beloved way of programming my synths.

At least M-Audio has good working OS X drivers for my Delta 1010 interface.

And while I was waiting for Cubase SX, Apple bought Emagic, so I can't even make up my mind if I should switch to using Logic.

Decisions, decisions ...

I like DP3 a lot too, actually I'm getting used to edit audio with in in place of Protools.

MOTU is very behind but the entire audio industry is behind any way with OSX. There is only a fraction of the software compatible with OSX right now. Even with DP3 for OSX I would be stuck with OS9 at list until agust of next year.

I too am a DP3 user. I have talked to people I know who work at MOTU, and they said that it wont be out until January or February. The reason for the delay is because they have seen some unexpected problems in making an OSX version. But, I have been assured that it will definitely be worth the wait.

If you are waiting hard for it to come out within a month, don't hold your breath. It isn't going to happen.

I struggled with the OS switch as a result of incompatible apps (for me it's all about Logic and Reason). I thought that my worries were past me when Logic began shipping for X and I was overjoyed. But wait! A new problem on the horizon! I want to buy a MOTU I/O to replace the one I use today (Emagic's emi 2/6). Until reading this thread, I hadn't even known that not all of the interfaces are supported. Guess I should research everything, even when my peers swear up and down that compatibility is present. So what now?

MOTU, please hurry.

On a side note, I was very excited (like any other Mac fan using Logic) about the Apple/Emagic purchase. Maybe I should keep waiting to see what influence Apple has on new devices? Has anyone heard any rumors about the future of Emagic?

oh no! i truly hope they get it out sooner!!!..argh...they even say it will ship in 2nd quarter 2002...hmm...well maybe it'll come out for namm in mid january

hmmm....I forgot all about namm. Yeah, I am sure that is when they are planning on releasing it. Well, maybe not actually shipping it, but I bet they will do a big preview of it like what digidesign did a few months ago. Then, they will probably ship the software in february. That could be very cool.
