Apple has transitioned MBP 13” to M1, but still sells the 10th gen 13” MBP models with the better speakers. What speakers do they now have in the M1 versions?

And if the M1’s are so fast then why keep selling the Intel ones? Why keep the 13” Intel around at all?

Because real Pro users use commercial apps not found in the Mac App Store. They need 100% compatibility. Plus it’s likely the emulated performance still underperforms native x86.

At this point, M1 customers are simple users who can be satisfied by the selection in the Mac App Store.

Let me get this straight.. Though all three laptops' speakers are listed as 'Stereo speakers with high dynamic range' the speaker setup in the new M1 MBPs is identical to the former Intel two-port 13" MBPs, which is inferior to the setup in the Intel four-port 13" MBPs?

Comparing the internals of the 2020 Intel MBP to the M1 MBP, the speakers look visually identical.

Yup, you're right! Interesting. So the speaker difference between the MBP and MBA is probably not as significant as I was expecting. Here's the four-port MBP internals for others to compare, with the woofers in the bottom corners.

Helpful thread guys. You all answered my questions perfectly. For the best sounding 13” MBP speakers users must still opt for the Intel 10th gen models. It’s a wonder Apple never differentiated in marketing the two distinct 13” MBP models when they were introduced and on the site; you know, king of the up-sell and all.
