What am I doing wrong? The Music app is a mess.

The Music app is just awful. I downloaded some of my music from Bandcamp. I copy the folder directly into Music, files are missing. I recopy the folder, now there are double entries INCLUDING the missing files. Driving me nuts.. is the program really this bad??

I dropped some files into 'Automatically add' from a different disk. One went missing. Nowhere on the disk I use for media, not in music, not in the bin, not in a hidden folder. Good job it was only a copy. Used the 'Import' from the menu to bring the file in from the other disk. All worked fine copied to where it should be.

Seems to have an especial hatred for files with an extension of .m4a

I find it to be a complete mess, too. Simple things like searching on a file: I'll be typing into the search bar and the app will just jump to a completely different view and exiting me from search while I'm still trying to type the name of a song. This is not a case of me hitting the trackpad or something as I'm on my Mac Pro with a keyboard and the house is "far away". It seems to show duplicates for things that I have added from Apple Music but then buy from the iTunes Store. You'd think Apple could effectively de-dupe itself. You still can't make folders for Apple Music playlists so if you add them to your library you just have this massive stream of unorganized names to scroll through. The whole app needs an entire reboot.

Wow! Apple really wants you to pay for their streaming, don't they?
I think I'll stick with iTunes 10.4.1 until I can get everything transferred to a Raspberry pi running volumio. They're not nearly as insistent on streaming. I checked out Apple's music app site, and managed to get out without signing up for 3 months free streaming, but it was a close thing. Having been a record collector since the 60's, I prefer my own collection.
