Yes the macbooks will be ready to ship in 7days (working days that is)
from the UK store
But apple dont tell you there coming from china , im not sure if its just BTO macbooks but i know mine is

I ordered my macbook on the 15th of september, am still waiting and ETA is 4th of october!

I expected to have it buy now ! but then maybe its jus me being fussy and wanting the macbook NOW!

Is any one else in a similar situation waiting for there macbook?

its a 100gb . 1.83 ghz white macbook with 1024mb ram.

Sorry but you're wrong, Apple DO tell you how long it will take until it ships and how long you can expect it to take to get to you from the moment it does ship.

When you buy online the checkout page has a bit that tells you the build time AND a bit that tells you how long it will take to ship (in the UK it usually says 5-7 working days, which is usually accurate).

Furthermore, on top of this they then send you an order confirmation email which AGAIN tells you the estimated build time and the estimated delivery time after shipping.

All Macs ordered online are shipped from China. No matter where in the world you are located. Did you think it would ship from the UK?? They're made in China, after all, so where else would they ship from?

It may ship from china but from what I've seen its air shipped from china to alaska and then to the states. I had mine like a day or two after it left china. And I only chose the regular shipping option. They almost always over estimate the shipping time.

are you sure? i ordered online and that same day, it shipped, and said it was in Pennsylvania in the US, so i think it's only BTO Macs that are shipped from China.....cuz there is no way my iMac could have gone from china to pennsylvania in 2-3 hours....

For Europe, instead of shipping to Alaska, which would be stoopid, I believe they ship them to Belgium or something (not sure exactly). From there, they ship it to wherever you are in Europe.

Not all macs come from china. My Mac Pro was built and shipped from California and it was BTO.

My macbook shipped from china, I ordered it several months after they released them, and it was a stock config. For a product thats not selling as fast as they can make them they probably ship them directly from china. For a new product they probably also ship from china until they have a large surplus ready in china and then they probalby send them over in bulk from china to warehouses in the us and other places and then just ship from there and continue to do cheaper bulk shipments to the warehouses, maybe even by boat.

It actually depends on stock levels and such. I believe all Macs are made in China, with the exception of the Mac Pro which is made in the USA. I've ordered about 40 Macs over the last 2 years (mostly on behalf my work) and the majority have shipped from China.

However, there have been a few cases where I've ordered iMacs on one day and received it the very next day in the UK. In these cases the shipping info says they started their trip from somewhere in the UK. I suspect that if the shipping channels and stocks are well supplied then Apple keep at least a few stock configurations of machines in each country. So, if you order a stock machine and there is some stock in your country then it may just ship from the local stock.

From what I was told in the Apple store, most BTO products (or anything they're out of stock of) comes from China. They have warehouses in Tennessee, Pennsylvania, and California that in-stock items ship from. It usually takes 5 business days to ship from China to parts of the US (note the word usually). If you feel you're waiting too long, call Apple and ask them where it is.

I'll note that they were wrong when I called. I ordered an iPod when the new ones came out, called, and was told it was shipping that evening from the Tennessee warehouse. It shipped three days later from China. However, it was still in the window they promised.

I ordered on the 12th. The website said "ready to ship in 7 days" at that point. My confirmation email (the last communication I received from Apple) said that delivery would be by the 25th.

So yesterday, I checked the order status online. It says estimated delivery by 28th. I had received nothing from Apple to say the delivery would be later than I was originally advised.

I am sure I remember reading somewhere on the Apple site (but I have searched and can't find it now) that I should receive an email with any information about delivery updates. Can anyone else recall this, and remember where it is?

I called Apple, and a very pleasant and apologetic young lady said that normally off-the-shelf Macbooks are stockpiled in the Netherlands, but they were out of stock at the time of my order, and my Macbook would be coming from China, which accounted for the delay. My confirmation email should have reflected this, but there had been an error. I was assured my computer would arrive on Thursday (28th), and actually they were normally delivered a day earlier than estimates, so it might even be Wednesday (27th).

That's not much good if I have to book time off work to receive the delivery. I might have booked Monday off, and then I have to book Wednesday AND Thursday off too? Luckily I work from home, so this is not a huge issue, apart from the fact that I daren't nip to the shops.

Surely though I should receive some sort of confirmation of despatch from Apple? The two emails I actually received (Order Received and Order Being Processed) have a graphic at the top with "Order Received", "Order Processing" and "Order Dispatched", with little dots indicating the current status. I have not received an "Order Dispatched" email, and it didn't arrive today, yet I am expected to wait in tomorrow for delivery? Surely this is not right.

I am so disappointed in this level of service.

Do you expect Apple to hold your hand through the process? It's partly up to the customer to periodically check on the status of their shipment. You received a helpful service representative yet you still complain. Delays happen...adapt...

Can understand where many of you are coming from,, but i was not notified it was shipping from china, also apple do not let you clearly track your order and it has to be done through http://www.apecode.com/appletrack/ if you want to track it from china to the UK which i think is strange.

If the estimated time is correct it will have been 19days by the time i get my macbook i think thats quite a long time to wait really !!

but i guess it will be worth it when i get my nice new macbook !

Damn right I complain. Apple are a computer company - it can't be too difficult for them to generate an email to customers when their order status is updated on the website.

Why the hell should I keep track of a delay? It's up the supplier to inform the customer, not the other way round. Their business is to supply products to customers, mine is to live my life and not have to worry about their business.

My email says "Once your order has dispatched, you will receive a Dispatch Notification email, which will provide you with detailed delivery information." I have received no such email, yet I am supposed to expect delivery tomorrow.

Well they're all shipped from China or Taiwan (used to be Taiwan, anyway), so you're right in a way. From China, they're shipped to Alaska, then I think to like Indianapolis or something. Maybe things have changed and they have warehouses all over the place now, like California. Not sure.



European machines are shipped to Belgium or The Netherlands, then out from there. (Oops, I said that in this thread already)

I don't think any machine is actually constructed in California or in America, but I guess the Mac Pro could be, like Maverick808 said. A bunch of machines were probably in a warehouse in Cali, that's all. Was it the stock configuration?

BTO macs destined for Europe are shipped from China to Holland, at the distribution centre in Den Haag, then onto UK etc.
