What application do they use in the apple stores to examine your iphone

I went into the apple store with my girlfriend the other day as she was having issues with her iphone performance. They apple guys hooked it up to an application and done a performance test of the iphone and found that some of the applications were not running correctly and using alot of CPU.

I was wondering if anyone knows what this application is and are there versions out there that we can use (torrent or legal)? Those pesky bright coloured peole may just keep it for internal use.

Im surprised something like that hasnt leaked out somewhere.
I mean theres tons of people that work for Apple that have acess to the program and hopefully with a USB stick they could copy the install file.
It would be great to have.

I'm guessing it has to connect to, or run off their servers. Therefore it would be useless outside the store.
 
Apple is also extremely good at keeping their information contained within their company. It wouldn't surprise me if this software had code or information in it that could be used for other purposes within the phone. Chances are we will never see it.

why would apple ever want something like that getting into the wild?

"Heres a backdoor into our device! Take it! manipulate it and make them the most unstable pmp around!" <--- Not gonna happen from apple.

Yeah imagine what people could potentially do with it.
Diagnose their own iPhone issues like dropped calls and hardware issues.
They definetelly wouldn't want something like that leak out, they might issue a terrorist alert :rolleyes:

It definitely does. I read some blog about unbricking phones with a certain version of iTunes and a config file, but you have to connect to Apple to do it.
 
I just use the thing in the SDK to check the iPhone log, whilst it doesn't include everything, it does tell me when I logged on to the WiFi network at what time and the name of the network :)

Are you not just talking about iTunes running in store mode? Have you got a link?

I have seen the application, and I did look at the name but forgot. It was running locally though, however I don't know if it connected to a server for validation
