Wow I was expecting way more WhatsApp in the list. Thought I was the weird one for not using it.

I believe phones these days can send and receive messages.........

But I wasn’t sure as all the ads I see for both Apple and Samsung are advertising their latest ‘camera’ (no mention of any phone functions).

Anyway messages is what I use (no social nonsense)

Based on the apps used, everyone on this thread (myself included - mail, calendar, safari, Feedly, messages, WhatsApp) would get along just fine with iPhone 6s (A9) hardware specs.

I guess people don’t use their phones for traditional phone functions much anymore.

Back in the day advertisements used to be based on traditional phone capabilities because that was a novel thing but now it’s expected from almost any gadget.

To be able to stand out the companies have to promote what they think people will like.

Personally I don’t like social networks in general but I like certain apps and use them for specific reasons, not some mindless chit chatting.

- I use Instagram for photography inspiration and ideas and also to research on places I want to visit.
- I use twitter for news, trending issues and general conversation around things I like.

I hate Facebook and WhatsApp with a passion.

YouTube, safari, mail, outlook, garage opening app, Tesla, nest, wiz, reminders, messages. I hide the garage remote app because I don’t want to open the garage accidentally (it uses Bluetooth). Most used apps are on the first page near the bottom. Top apps are important but lest used. Same with apps on my second page.
I don’t always use the camera but when you need to use it it’s vital to have quick access. It’s also there because when I travel I want access to this.

google maps is so helpful when looking for places or restaurants.

No social. Hardly use WhatsApp though I have Facebook (it’s vile, twitter horrible) stock that’s I bought back in the day and went up in value. 😇

Messages app.

Mail app

Phone app.

BTW. For those claiming not using their phone as an actual phone anymore - my wife routinely uses well over 1000 minutes a month in talk time. Sometimes close to 2000.

YouTube and chrome per screen time.
Chrome and YouTube per battery usage.
