For instance, will the ipad be able to watch videos without using the whole screen like the iPod touch does? Also is there a disk drive and will you be able to use a mouse when the ipad is on the keyboard dock? Also, will the ipad be able to play games compatible for pc? Thanks

1. To my knowledge, you can watch videos without going full-screen.

2. No disk drive; you're limited to the internal memory.

3. There's a keyboard option, but no mouse. Not sure why you'd actually need one on a tablet device.

4. The iPad runs iPhone OS, so no PC games nor Mac OS games for that matter. You would run Apps purchased from the Apps Store instead.

If your intent is to do "something else" while watching a video, then the answer is you would need an app specifically designed to do that, and that app would probably be restricted to what kind of video it can show. In other words, you can get apps that show video from ABC, another app for Netflix -- but there is no generic way to get those videos to play on less than the full screen. On iPad, there's one app that shows on screen at a time, and it takes the whole screen (because there's nothing to show anyway).

Someone could write a single app that showed some kind of video in a portion of the screen, along with a web browser (or a game or anything else) on another part of the screen, but that's only because the one app did that.

Though the iPad has more apps than the OS X based Macs, they are limited in their abilities. It weighs half as much as the MacBook Air and one-fourth as much as a 15" MacBook Pro.

But the MacBook and MacBook Pro have a "real" OS. They can multi-task and multi-process in multi-windows. They are faster with more memory and more storage.

The iPad is an iPod Touch on steroids, but it can't replace all the functions of an iPhone or a Mac.
