Ok my 3GS has 3.0.1 on it and is jailbroken. I saw 3.1 came out and people said hold off so I did. Now 3.1.2 is out so am I able to install that and jailbreak? What are my options or is it better that I just stay with 3.0.1?

No, there are no tools to JB to 3.1.2 (but some will likely be coming out soon)

Thanks. So just hang with 3.0.1 for now?

Well, that is your choice. You can use Pwnage tool to JB to 3.1 as long as you are currently JB (which you are)

Have you captured your SHSH on Cydia ? I you haven't I would do so. If you have, you can downgrade back to 3.0.1 or 3.1 as I understand it.

If not and if anything goes wrong, you will end up at official 3.1 with your baseband updated and un-lockable.

If it were me, I would just wait (hopefully not more than a couple of days)

But go to Cydia and capture your SHSH.

I've updated iTunes with no problems. I just had to tell it to stop trying to installing the new iPhone updates.

You don't have a 3GS, you can upgrade, downgrade, etc. If you don't care about unlocking, you can update as usual and use redsn0w, otherwise use pwnage tool. :)

yea i know i can upgrade firmware to the new ones, but I hear the last 2 updates suck, not worth the hassle of RE-jailbreak the phone, which for me takes me about 2 hours, to get it to look how I want without winterboard

is this new update 3.1.2 worth it?

It's just a bug fix for 3.1

If you didn't go to 3.1, then the bug fix update isn't gonna have anything you need.

I don't know, is it worth it? You tell me. :)

For me, it's not worth it, my jailbroken 3.0.1 is working fine and the updates/fixes offered aren't significant enough for me to upgrade. For you? Up to you. :)

I am not on 3.1.2 since there are no tools for it.

I am on 3.1, but it took 2 jailbreaks with a restore to official Apple 3.0 in between to get a properly working JB version of 3.1 put on my phone.

No bugs left except the carrier name error which is because I have the 4.26.xx baseband which errors out in reporting the carrier info to firmware 3.1, thus the carrier name error.
