Lets try this again I wrote the question over. The new mac pro has an internal pcie ssd 256 or 512 or 1tb. I do not care that the read write sequential is 800 plus.

I care about the random numbers. Does anyone have a benchmark link that shows them?

what is 4k write and 4k read

This post is hard to read, but I don't see an external SATA3 drive beating the internal drive in any sort of way.

My Macbook Pro's drive beats that drive in benchmarks, so I very much doubt it would be faster than the Mac Pro's drive.

you are correct. so I wrote what I really want to know.

random

4k read
4k write

on a 1tb pcie in the new mac pro.
on a 512 pcie in the new mac pro.
on a 256 pcie in the new mac pro.

I can add a 1tb samsung evo ssd to a new mac pro as an external thunderbolt bolt drive at no cost.

I want to know how much faster is the pcie. at random 4k reads and writes.

This is the tradition bottleneck number on all ssd's ie the slowest number for an ssd or for a pcie ssd.

If the 1tb pcie is far better I want to know…

so goMac if you have a macbook pro with a pcie run an xbench and post it. I know it will beat my scores.

but if your Random 4k write is 130MB/sec and my Random 4k write is 106 MB/sec
and your Random 4k read is 35MB/sec and my Random 4k read is 21 MB/sec

I have a better idea if I want to order my Mac Pro with the 256gb stock and not the 1tb extra.
