I like AnandTech, Tom's Hardware, Ars Technica, JonnyGuru.com, Bjorn3D.com, HardOCP.com, Hardwaresecrets.com, Techreport.com, Arstechnica.com, Overclock3d.net, Xtremesystems.org, Overclock.net, Notebookreview.com, to name a few. :D

There are some very good forums at some of these sites too. The overclocking sites are obviously not Mac oriented, but there is a lot of good info there about Intel processors and chipsets and various components and peripherals.

I think Anand does a great job of being very open minded and unbiased in his reviews. He uses Apple products but he writes very objectively about them just as he does about the Windows based pc's. Lots of good reading at his site.

I'd like to hear some of your favorite sites and forums and why you like them.

A lot of tech sites have gone downhill these days, since they usually depend on getting clicks to survive and thus breathlessly repeat nonsense. Investigative journalism is also almost dead. So, more for fun than anything:

--

For quickie smartphone news, pretty much repeat each other:

IntoMobile

Engadget

MobileMag

Cool Smartphone

Phone Scoop

Brighthand - probably the oldest smartphone site

General tech news:

TechWeb - dry, but sometimes news not found elsewhere

ZDNet - used to be good, now too many uninformed articles and rabid commenters

Places to be wary of:

Daring Fireball - mostly written to get clicks, but sometimes has Apple inside info

Roughly Drafted - mixes "facts" with strawman arguments to create more bogus "facts" that are lapped up by the naive

Foss Patents - often hypes patents beyond their meaning. Florian Mueller is clueless at times.

http://thisismynext.com/ (soon to be http://theverge.com/)

For those that may not be aware, this is basically the old Engadget crew (Josh Topolski, Nilay Patel, Paul Miller, etc). After AOL ruined Engadget they jumped ship. This Is My Next is a temporary home until The Verge is launched (backed by SB Nation funding).

I thought no one would post this, and I was then going to post it.

They're good.

VR-Zone, SemiAccurate and TechPowerUp are pretty good IMO - have plenty of exclusives and especially VR-Zone has leaked quite a lot of stuff lately. AnandTech is the best place for reviews but since I write for Anand, my opinion is obviously biased (but I still like their reviews, honestly!) :p

Is your Anand identity a secret? :D
I like AnandTech because they write in depth, accurate and non biased reviews. They don't right like fanboys of any brand or product and I like that. I know that Anand has stated that he uses Apple notebooks, yet he isn't afraid to offer constructive criticism or point out areas for improvements.

Overclock.net is probably at or near the top of my favorite Windows pc based forums. There are some great users there and some all out performance geeks there. You can learn way more than you will ever need to know about each individual computer component. This is good knowledge even for Mac only users as it gives an in depth look at some of the components and tech that are used in Mac's too. There is a wealth of knowledge about processors, motherboards, SSD, RAM, cooling, power supplies, you name it, it's there.

If I had more time, I'd spend it on ...

http://lifehacker.com/

Just always interesting stuff to make your life easier or device use more fun. Like today they mentioned the free Microsoft "Mouse without Borders" utility which lets you share keyboard/mouse/files across all your PCs in a room.

Even the sub stories are handy:

Xstremesystem and [H] that's about it. Toms does have some good articles on occasion. Engadget and Anand want Apple deep inside them, but if I want Apple news I'll just come to MR instead atleast they don't claim to be non bias.
