I got the 2.4 MBP base model 4gb ram. Anyone believe they would make a mini more powerful than what I have?

thinking if they do, mb i'll pick one up and perform more video intensive duties on it. I don't think they will.

Nah, don't think so. I think the most a mini will get in terms of graphics is a 9400m, and a way slower (probably atom) processor.

(probably atom) processor.
Not a chance in hell of that happening.

If you want to know what the mini will have, all you need to do is look to the macbook.

2.0ghz C2D, maybe 2.4ghz on the "top" model.
2gb DDR2 ram, maybe DDR3.
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics.

The more expensive mini might come close to the low-end 2.4ghz MBP in terms of raw CPU power, but the MBP will wipe the floor with it in graphical power.

why people actually believe the mini will get an Atom cpu???

they probably want to upgrade it not downgrade it.... the core 2 duo out-performs the Atom...

To the OP there is no such chance.

No way, if anything the new mac mini will be a bit slower in specs (probably due to rumors of atom cpu) in the mac mini, if not on par with the current macbooks (not macbook pros).

As for me, I'm waiting for the Gainstown Mac Pro! =D

Ok sounds good. Then i'll put some money into other peripherals instead. Just wanted to get some feedback. Wasnt sure when the Mac Mini was first introduced if it was as powerful as early notebooks.

It appears it wasnt and never will.
