What are the chances my new iMac will be delivered Friday?

Hi,

I ordered a new 3.06 ghz iMac last night (Tuesday) from Apple's website. They listed the estimated ship time at 1-3 business days and I selected next day delivery.

The only modifications I made were the radeon 4850, Apple Care, and wireless keyboard/mouse.

Currently the delivery date shows as July 30 - August 3.

What are the chances it will deliver on or before Friday (July 31st)?

If it ships today you will get it by friday, if tomorrow, then Sat or Monday.

Since you have a custom configured unit, it ships from China. There technically is no next day, so it becomes 2-day in reality, unless of course you live on the west coast I guess. There is also international shipping releases which hold things up a few hours.

Last I checked there is an option for "Next business day delivery" which costs extra. (Which I paid for)

"Next business day delivery available" is what shows up in the Apple Store, and what I picked.

I figured if it was shipped from Apple today/tomorrow I would get it by Friday (that's what counts to me). Which falls in the July 30 - Aug 3 delivery window.

Unless I'm completely wrong here (and apple charged me for bogus shipping).
 
Well it still shows as "Not yet shipped", not even "Prepared to ship".

I'm kind of losing hope of having it this weekend :(

Interestingly enough though, my applecare I ordered has shown as complete for the last day or so.
 
Hey - Tuesday I also ordered a customized IMAC and ordered it 2 day delivery. I kept obsessively checking the website to see the status of the order...anyways, it was shipped Wednesday before 5pm easter, so now according to Fed EX and Apple, I will be getting the package tomorrow - Friday...

Check the order status!

I guess your lucky then.

I ordered it on Tuesday with the next day shipping.

iMac shows as not yet shipped
AppleCare shows as completed

I'm still crossing my fingers that there is a lag in the system updating, or that it will magically show shipped later today

Sorry to let you down, but I doubt it is a lag in the system. As for the China thing, trust me, it adds an extra day. CTO orders have to be built there.
 
With next day shipping, it might be delivered on a Saturday. No promises though.
 
I'm hoping that it will magically be listed as shipped today, but if it did ship tomorrow and I got it Saturday I wouldn't be too upset.

Interestingly enough it still lists my delivery date as July 30 - August 3.

I'm fairly sure it isn't going to make the July 30th date :p

I thought it had to be assembled overseas too (i customized my imac) but it was assembled in USA. Must have been mostly made in china, but they ship some units not fully assembled for customization at a factory on the ground here in the states.

If you only customize the hard drive or RAM, I can see this. Changing a processor or graphics card (except maybe in Mac Pro) would have to be done in China.


Also, OP, don't forget the time difference between here and in China. My Mac Mini CTO shipped out of China around 3am central time.

I'm hoping it sais shipped soon :p

I've heard of people getting stuck in "Prepared to ship", but i can't even get that far :p

Incase anyone is wondering (or watching for their situation).

The system showed up as "Prepared to ship" around 6pm Central time.

It shows up as shipped around 7pm Central time.

FedEx tracking states delivery at 3pm Friday.

(So I'm happy)
 
when i ordered my iMac it said that it will come july 30- august 5th however it came on july 29th. i was very suprised.
