What are the colored arrows for Location Services? ...

I remember reading once the difference between gray and purple, but I can't find it now.

What do the two colors indicate?

To quote verbatim: "A purple location services icon will apear next to an item that is currently using your location. A gray location services icon will appear next to an item that has used your location within the last 24 hours"

It is at the bottom of the page when you click on Location Services

Since 5.0.1 allegedly fixed battery issues, I decided to re-enable the "setting time zone" option in the Location services menu. And for the past 25 minutes it has been actively using the GPS and I have lost 2% of my battery life in that time.
