I have not aversion to trying to jailbrake my iphone. THe only reason I would do it is to use the mobile hotspot app and I am wondering if there is a way AT&T can tell if you are using that app or not and possibly hit you with a huge bill or cancel your service, etc........

If you use data at a faster rate than it takes to stream video to the iPhone they can probably tell, but I don't think they've hit anyone with a huge bill yet. That's not to say they won't eventually.

I wouldn't download a Ton of big files on your laptop thru it but I think anything the iPad or iPhone can do would be perfectly fine. There's a guy who is TRYING to get cancelled by AT&T. He was up to 30gb so far not a peep from AT&T he's shooting for 100gb in one month

is that a thread from these forums?? Id like to follow that!

Thank you.

CrAkD- I thought you meant he was tethering the iPhone.. My mistake.
I'd still like to see if ATT will cut him off.

If he's not tethering, he's not really breaking any terms of service with AT&T. If you leave Air Video running 24/7 streaming stuff, you could probably get the kind of data usage he had.

Beat me to it I just found it. Yeah not tethering but I figure just as good if you use less data then him who cares how you used it right?

From the thread title I just assumed the person was tethering using that kind of data. If that were the case Im sure AT&T would do something about!

One thing I was unsure about is I know the iPad 3G plan is truly unlimited, but is the iPhone data plan?

I've never seen any stories of someone testing the iPhone data plan to see if ATT will cut them off, anyone know?

If the ipad is the iPhone better be. Lot more money involved with iPhone with a contract and such. Plus the data plans are the same price

I have installed Windows 7 Professional as well as OSX on 2 separate netbooks. If you've ever installed Windows 7, you know after it's completed the install from the DVD, you're supposed to go into the auto update program and it downloads a truckload of updates. OSX, on a smaller scale, does something similar. I did all this using a WiFi connection from the netbooks to my iPhone running MyWi. I did this all on the same day. Never an issue with ATT.

Hold on a second, I hear helicopters. Hmm, someone is at the door. j/k :D
