Hi everyone,

I just fixed a 2008, 24" iMac by 'baking' its GPU. Everything is running fine, except the fans seem to be slightly loud. Each one is running from 1300 RPM to 1800 RPM. In SMCFanControl, it seems that those are the defaults... but they seem rather loud. I think SMC may be getting the defaults incorrect.

Anyone out there who has a 2008 iMac and knows? (The fans aren't 'taking off,' but it's a hum that I can hear from multiple feet away.)

-Thanks
[doublepost=1456026021][/doublepost]These are the apparent defaults:

ODD: 700/4400
HDD: 1200/5500
CPU: 1200/3300

Could this be a mishap with the temp sensors or something? Perhaps I should do an SMC reset? Odd part is that they aren't anywhere as high as 5500 RPM, yet they are still far off from 700 and a bit higher than 1200.
[doublepost=1456028146][/doublepost]EDIT: So I found out that SMCFanControl was giving my machine default fan speeds that were well above the real defaults. I now have deleted SMCFanControl and recommend Macs Fan Control, as it now has my fans at the defaults (700 RPM and 1200 RPM, respectively)!
