What are the differences between .Mac and Mobile Me

I saw an interview with Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. SJ was told in that interview that the interviewer had heard that a lot of people were disappointed with .Mac because Apple had not really developed it very much. SJ stated that what the user stated was true and that they were going to revamp it and make it a lot better in the near future. This is apparently what they have done in Mobile Me.
My question is: What are the differences between them?
