I just noticed that the HD that came installed in my 27" i7 iMac, late 09 model, is a Western Digital Caviar Black model. Is that common? I am thinking about upgrading to 2 TB, but Im not sure now, because Ive read that the Blacks are good HDs. Thoughts?

I just find it weird that mine has a Caviar Black in it. Its the first time Ive read/heard this.

This thread was interesting because I was waiting for my new iMac i5 to arrive today wondering what it would come with, and I must happily confirm, mine also came with a very silent WD black as well. Love how quiet my imac is! I guess new models here on out are moving to WD. Looks like we got lucky and must have gotten the first batch :D

I have an early 2009 3.06 iMac and I can confirm that I have a caviar black too. It is very silent and I was wondering why I score above average on hard drive test.
