I noticed that, after install the Windows XP and Apple Windows drivers created in the Boot Camp, there are still two Unknown Devices that don't have any drivers:

1. USB Human Interface Device
2. Other Device - PCI Device

What are these two devices in MacBook Pro?

1. USB Human Interface Device - Usually a Mouse (Trackpad?)
2. Other Device - PCI Device - Could this be the Express Card Slot?

I would guess the IR receiver is the USB device, and I think the motion sensor might be the PCI device. Not sure of any PCI devices that are unsupported in XP.

The ExpressCard SLOT itself appears as a PCI bus and a USB root hub. Both are fully recognized in XP are core chipset devices. If you have an oddball CARD in the slot, it might show up as unrecognized, but I doubt the OP has that, otherwise he would have said so.

So all Macbooks (Pro) will have these two unknown devices after XP Boot Camp installation?
No I don't have any card inserted in the ExpressCard slot.

I'll let you know later today... I haven't booted into Boot Camp in about a month. (I use Parallels running from the Boot Camp partition most of the time.)

any update on unknown devices

can ayone let me know if boot camp/mbp c2d leaves the two unknown devices: USB Human Interface and PCI Device.

i have a brand new mbp 15--the firmware is up-to-date. i installed xp sp2, and about 1 out of every 3 times i boot up into windows, it freezes and i'm forced to just shutdown the notebook. mac os x boots consistently, so i'm thinking one of my windows drivers is not working.

anyone have any advice? i love my new mac, but need windows too.

I have a 15" MacBook Pro and ran Bootcamp to setup Win XP. I currently have the following unrecognized devices or devices with problems (i.e yellow explamation point/question mark):

- Human Interface Devices ! USB Human Interface Device
- Network Adaptors ! Bluetooth Device (Personal Aea Network)
- Other Devices ?! PCI Device
- Other Devices ?! Unknown Device

I followd all directions and made a drivers disk...anyone else see these same missing drivers? Thanks

ALL who use XP on an Intel Macintosh have at LEAST two unrecognized devices.
They are:
1) The Apple Remote.
2) The Apple Bluetooth Adaptor (I suspect).

Considering that the "Macintosh Drivers for XP" disk contains a working driver for the built-in iSight camera, you really should only be seeing those two unknown devices.

WHY? Simple: Apple REALLY doesn't want to help Windows users actually USE their Apple Intel PCs, they just want to try to turn Windows users away from Windows, and force them to continue using OS X, so they gave them a few "scraps" to deceive them into thinking that Apple WANTS people to use Windows on their Apple Intels (when they really don't). So they have failed to write a Windows driver for the Apple Remote. Too many Windows users would complain LOUDLY if Apple failed to include an iSight driver with Boot Camp Assistant, so they did give them that scrap. I personally do not believe Apple will EVER write drivers for ALL the devices on an Apple Intel PC. It is simply not in their interest to do so, because all those Windows users who have purchased one of Apple's new Intels would never open OS X.

Up till today, Apple has REFUSED to write Windows drivers for the Apple Remote, also for the same reason.

The Windows version of Bluetooth is terribly inconsistent, and the Apple Bluetooth adapter is not much better under Windows, so I advise everyone who plans on using Bluetooth in Windows on their Apples to purchase Logitech devices instead, and disable the Apple Bluetooth adapter. Logitech's Bluetooth DOES work consistently under Windows.

Whether Apple will actually release Vista drivers any time soon is also questionable. Evidently, because their heads were stuck in the sand while they refused to accept that Windows Vista WAS released to manufacturing last November, they have probably not even started on them yet. Apple has had PLENTY of time to write Vista drivers, yet they have FAILED to do it.
