Hey Guys,

I was thinking about all the Apple ads. I love ads like the Get a Mac (Mac vs PC) ads, but also love some of the other funny ads Apple used to do like the Window Shopping commercial.

I was just wondering what do you guys think are the best Apple Mac Ads Ever???

I came up with my top 10 on my Blog: http://enspri.com/2008/10/21/the-top-ten-apple-commercials-ever-made/

However My Top 3 are:

3.The Window Shopping (iMac g4)
2.The Bean Counter Mac vs PC released the other day,
1.and I think the best ad is the Think Different Ad.

What do you think???

Cheers,
Kris

In general, I think Apple should stop worrying about what the PC is doing and focus on making a quality product. Advertising campaigns that focus on putting the competitors down just make the company look childish.

I liked the coldplay and the ting tings commercials for the ipod because they had good music and great visuals.

I think the ad campaign for the new ipod nano is one of the worst commercials I've ever seen. The paint spilling is awful and the design of the product in general is completely unappealing.

I'm with you on the coldplay commercials etc. I think their very cool, great effects etc. I prefer the coldplay ad to many of the other iTunes ads. Great choice of music.

I do quite like the new nano ad, although yeah the paint spilling is actually a little unusual, but I get what their trying to do.

I love the fact the Mac vs PC ads are very simple. Not a huge massive $300m dollar ad like what Microsoft have been trying to do. Sometimes simple ads are the most effective ones.

Worrying about what your competitors are doing isnt a bad thing, seeing as they own most of your target audience.
Thier advertising must be working or it wouldn't still be being used

I agree that simple is better and I'm not a fan of the Microsoft commercials, but someone pointed out on another thread that the amount of advertising dollars compared with users of each platform or amount of products/sales may make the millions spent on Microsoft advertising vs the advertising spent on apple a more equal comparison than they appear. You'd have to crunch the numbers to see how that comes out.

As far as competitors go, you don't ignore your competitors, but you don't spend all your time and energy going back and forth bashing each other unless your running for president (which is also ridiculous IMO). PCs and Macs all have pros and cons...just let it be and focus on something else (that goes for apple and microsoft).

Microsoft could have just as easily come out with a similar campaign against macs with a PC and Mac guy. The PC guy says "I am the major enterprise platform, all of the major software and accessories are created for me, I have shortcuts that are actually consistent, and I don't have to worry about stupid permissions when I'm being networked" and the mac guy goes "Well...i play music" and the PC guy goes "Yeah me too. But I don't charge twice the price for the hardware to do so"

I actually prefer windows to macs because that's what I grew up with. I just decided to switch because the retailers of PCs are selling such low quality products that break down in no time.
