Hey,

Just got my first iPad the new 12.9 and loving it so far as a laptop replacement for non work related items. But for the most part I’ve just been surfing the web and browsing streaming services. I want to expand my knowledge and try new apps and experiences on the iPad. I was wondering what you guys really enjoy about your iPad so I can check it out :)

Hi Jacob

in my case surfing the web and streaming services (video/music/podcasts) are probably the vast majority of what I do on the iPad Pro too

Other than that I
- use banking apps
- Teams / MS office365 apps / Todoist / notability for note taking for work (iPad is here a companion device to my work laptop)
- procreate for some drawing (but I’m rubbish at it)
- games : Apple Arcade games + now playing Divinity original Sin 2

It has basically become my main computer at home and is a companion device for work related things

I would recommend trying out some Apple Arcade games to see if you like any of them.

You can learn to draw? There are many drawing apps out there that help you to learn to draw with the Apple Pencil. Also, you can learn how to use professional apps that brings out the creativity in you.

Thanks everyone :) been trying out some apple arcade games, so far the mini metro has been dope. Also just bought procreate and did a beginner lesson. Didn’t go too well haha :D

Thanks for all the advice :)

Check YouTube for lots of Procreate tutorials. Decide what type of painting/drawing/art you are interested in trying and find videos that demonstrate that style. I like watercolor so I enjoy tutorials that Teela Cunningham of Every-Tuesday does. She has a free course for Procreate if you go to Every-Tuesday.com and sign up. It’s lettering and flowers, which is probably not your “thing”, but it’s a great start on learning to use layers and the tools in Procreate.

Good job on Procreate! Look up "Art with Flo" on YouTube. Her tutorials are excellent, and they give you an idea of what things do in Procreate since you're new to the app. Keep it up!

12.9” is too big and too heavy to hold comfortably as a “tablet” for any reasonable amount of time. If I want a 13” laptop I’ll do that but 13” and 2 lbs isn’t a “tablet” in my opinion.

If I want an Amazing display I’ll buy a Samsung 10-bit OLED tablet. Not a 8-bit Mini-LED iPad Pro.

Get a good password manager on that iPad followed by a 2FA App like OTP Auth.

Congrats on the new iPad and trying new things like Procreate.
I used to use One Password but I switched to apple’s password manager. So far so good :) I like Duo for 2FA but they backup your codes in their cloud so I am unsure if that ruins the safety gains or not.
