It feels more like matte TPU-ish / generic bumper / slippery than the rubber edge iPhone 4 bumper from memory, albeit that was 15 years ago.

I was not the biggest fan and could not justify the $39 for it personally, but I like that it showed off the back of the phone. It also didn't bulk up the phone a lot, but more than I liked for how slim the Air is in hand by itself or with a slimmer complementary case.

I also didn't like the camera still touches the table laying down, but I'm not sure how they could've compensated for that without making the phone comically thick.

Also nice it accommodates the MagSafe battery even though I didn't try, but just from reading around.

Mine's already boxed up and ready to be returned to the Apple Store, it's just way too slippery. With that being said, it does make me want a bumper even more, but something with some grip/texture is a must.

I like it. Keeps the slim profile and nice to be able to see most of the phone. It's not super grippy, but I'm not worried about it slipping out of my hands or anything.

It’s not as grippy as I was imagining (I thought it’d be more like silicone), but the Air felt so delicate without that it does give me more to grab/hold on to. It’s as close to caseless as possible without skipping the case altogether.

The bumper is unusably slippery. Wish it wasn't made of hard polycarbonate. Also doesn't protect the camera bump or allow the phone to lay flat.

Wonder if there's any thin tape I can add to the bumper to give it enough texture to make it not slippery. Maybe gaffer tape?

Any decent 3rd party bumpers? I assume the metal ones will interfere with the reception and are non-starters.

I wonder if a little dragon grip tape on the bumper would solve the slipperiness issue well? Crazy to have to macgyver a $40 bumper...

I wanted to like it since I loved the bumper case on the iPhone 4, but it's too difficult to take on and off and brute force is needed. There are slimmer cases out there too.

I returned my bumper this morning and taking it off was a real PITA. It just never felt right in the hand, a rigid plastic. I went with the Apple frost case and it's incredibly light (it almost feels lighter than the bumper) -- the cutout at the bottom is nice, and it protects the camera on the back when lying flat. It's much nicer than clear cases I've tried in the past and I like how the inside is lightly frosted. And it allows the blue to shine through.

I tried this case out as well when I returned the bumper and really liked it. I noticed it's a different material than the clear cases for the other iPhone models too, slightly more thin and flexible.

It’s a little slick.

I really like the bumper case a lot. I’ve always preferred a much more minimalistic case, as I’ve always been incredibly careful with my phones, but over the past year or so I’ve really liked having AppleCare+ for additional peace of mind.

It isn’t perfect, but it’s definitely good enough to be included in my rotation of three to four cases I plan on having. I don’t find it slippery at all. It isn’t the grippiest case, far from it, but I also don’t find it to be like a bar of soap at all either. Yeah, it adds a little bit of bulk around the sides, but I love the feel of it in hand, love how sturdy it feels, and I love the look of it too and the fact that I can still feel and see the back of the phone. It also sits perfectly around the MagSafe battery pack.

I won’t be using it on a hike or anything like that, not with the exposed plateau, but for days in the office, going round to a friend’s house or a bite to eat, it’s a really nice case to use when you need that bit of lay on the table protection.

Also, I’ve seen a few comments about it being difficult to take off. I initially tried taking it off at the corners, which I admit wasn’t doing much, but I found it you slide the bumper up around where the camera control and power button is, it’s a tad looser and with not much force it pops up, then it’s really easy to take off.
