I submitted the following feedback to Apple but I’m curious what your thoughts are. It may just be me working against muscle memory.

The new navigation bar for Music is very confusing:

Listen Now: I find myself constantly pressing this because confusing it with Now
Playing. The icon is very similar and I don't understand what "listen now" means.
My brain just sees the icon and the word "now" and thinks "this must be how I get
to now playing". Once I'm in there, I don't see the difference between that and the
Browse option...more on that now

Browse: I confuse this with Library. In my mind I browse my Library. The icon also
looks like the layout of the Library UI. Also, what am I browsing here? And how is it
different to Listen Now? The two don't have clear separation and I'm never sure if I
need to select that or Listen Now. I'm finding it more difficult to discover new music
because of this.

It feels there should be a single place to find new music...perhaps a Discover
option? I like having the Radio option so I would still keep that separate. Listen Now,
how about that becomes Now Playing, with the interface showing the currently
playing song but then suggestions of new music, artists, playlists, etc based on
that? I like the idea of being shown music that compliments what currently
listening to and smart suggestions "you often listen to this after this song"...that
kind of thing. It could be a great interface to keep me listening to music and mix my
own selection using smart suggestions. lt would be an excellent place to promote
new music too.

I think no matter what they do short of a full scale redesign to be competitive with spotify will be a half measure.I just find Spotify to be so much more user friendly which is such an irritating thing to hear myself say.

Hm. I disagree with some of your criticism though I do acknowledge the word choice could be better.

Listen No = For You
Browse = Discover

Change the names and I think we're done basically

a long long time ago there was a music app that would allow you to pick musicians/bands and as you added them it would connect them with lines and eventually you would be discovering new music. not artists you've probably heard of already but actual music to your ears. I can't for the life of me remember the name of this app but it worked the best for discovering new music. as for the interface I have to agree. and for me its just a mess. I have not used Spotify so I can not comment on that but apple needs to work on this.

I agree with your feedback on most parts but not browse. Browse is the kind of thing when we went to music store and .. um.. browse. Had nothing to do with our own library. I don’t feel this connection.
Apart from that it’s mostly spot on.

More and more Apple moves my library to the back burner to push their terrible suggestions on me. Spotify is so much better at suggesting music but has no cloud library for my own music so I’ll stick to Apple, but they’re making me mad.

I’ve noticed the same thing. I thought it was mostly because they changed the order of the icons. Not sure why they would. i still think For You is better than Listen Now

I kinda like having them separate (SPotify vs Music app) - I quit using apple music over a year ago and switched to spotify for streaming music and discovering new music - which spotify is great at, great suggestions and more search selections - really like Spotify

I keep all my purchased music on my mac and use the Music.APP to sync purchased libray music playlists to iOS (iPhone and iPP)

The app is called Discovr :)

I am not an Apple Music subscriber, so each music app update for me is just how good it is to navigate around and find the song in my library that I want to listen to. For the most part iOS 14 music app has done some job to make the experience a bit more streamlined and easier for me, which is not a bad thing. Back to iOS 13 music app, there was no sidebar, and moving around the library on iPad was almost like using music app on a glorified iPhone in landscape mode, except you see more because the screen is bigger. Now, the music app on landscape mode finally resembles iTunes seen on Windows or macOS (up to Mojave).

Does anyone have a large image of Disclosure that never updates? Is this supposed to update? I’ve never seen anything other than this image, and I don’t listen to Disclosure at all.

btw, I remember people complaining about every update wasting more space, and now it’s completely ridiculous. So many things in the music app are nearly the size of the entire screen.
