What bothers you about Apple?

This thread is to discuss what direction you think Apple should be headed in. What would you like to see from them in one year, two years, five years? There is the ability to submit suggestions to Apple, and I suggest that everyone does that, but I've read enough threads around here to learn that Apple is very observant of it's communities and keeps watch of what is effecting them. The most recent evidence being the apology for maps. Maybe your suggestion is too general for a suggestion, maybe it's just a complaint, but i'd like to hear it.

What is your biggest gripe with iOS? It's stale, and lacking innovation. Siri and Maps don't feel finished at all.

What is your biggest gripe with OS X? Software updates have dramatically slowed down my MBA 2011.

Should Apple actively compete with it's competitors on features and specs? Obviously...

What is the biggest challenge that faces Apple right now? Pricing, maybe.

What Apple devices do you own right now? iPhone 5, iPad 2, MBA 13" 2011, old iPods.

What should be Apple's goal for one year from now? To redesign and bring some freshness to iOS and OS X.

What should be Apple's goal for two years from now? Bigger iPhone/Mac marketshare.

What should be Apple's goal be for five years from now? World domination.

I'll start. (Edit: ok not really starting, i was too slow typing on my iPod)

Biggest iOS gripe.
There aren't many good content creation apps on the app store. Pages and Numbers are a good start, but iOS should be able to do everything that a desktop can. I want to be able to run any App that OS X has, including Xcode, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Apache, Mysql, PHP. As long as iOS is viewed as a "mobile OS" it will never be able to be fully integrated and merged with OS X. If this perspective continues then there will never be a "post pc era"

Biggest gripe with OS X:
Make notification center useful please. You need to open it up to developers.

Consolidating iOS and OS X:
Absolutely! How Apple devices interact with each other is Apples greatest advantage over it's competitors.

Developers, Developers, Developers!

Should Apple compete on specs?
Heck no, that's a game you will loose, concentrate on the experience!.

Apple's biggest challenge:
Focus, they need to look objectively at their products and think only on how to make them better.

Devices i own:
ipod Touch 4, iPod touch 5, 2011 Macbook Air

1 year goal:
Reinvent the iOS UI, it's over due for a shake up.

2 years goal:
Smooth out the iCloud experience. We shouldn't even know the terms iCloud, or Match, they should just work, with everything.

5 year goal:
Merge iOS and OS X.

What is your biggest gripe with iOS?: The UI inconsistency and failure to add seemingly simple things

What is your biggest gripe with OS X?: The bugs and freezes

Do you think consolidating OS X and iOS is the right strategy?: Not at this time, I prefer them being separate. Maybe in the future once iOS is more feature complete.

If you could say one sentence directly to Tim Cook what would it be?: Can I work at Apple?

Should Apple actively compete with it's competitors on features and specs?: No, just make products that work well and they like to use themselves. That seems to be what they've done so far. Hardware efficiency (see the A6 vs Tegra 3/S4) is one thing they do very well.

What is the biggest challenge that faces Apple right now?: Convincing consumers thinking of switching to using the products from the new Microsoft or Google that Apple products are better. Coping with the forthcoming wave of hybrid tablet PC's - consumers may prefer to own a single device.

What Apple devices do you own right now?: A 2011, 13" MacBook Air, iPhone 5, 3rd generation iPad, 4th generation iPod touch (for testing)

What should be Apple's goal for one year from now?: Turn around their software. Start to re-innovate with the UX. With the recent management shakeup I have high hopes for this. Their hardware is and has always been great, so no problems there.

What should be Apple's goal for two years from now?: Continue to innovate and improve their software and hardware. They should be able to look back on the products they have today and see a big improvement.

What should be Apple's goal be for five years from now: Look into what hardware will be like in the future, and blow away the competition by bringing out new hardware that starts a whole new era of computing (like what the iPhone and iPad did).

The fact I sold 1000 shares of Apple stock several years ago when it seemed headed for nowhere. Other than that, nothing.

Anything that still suggests you run something or other from an administrator account (rather than offering you a chance to authenticate).

There are a few things like that you can bump into when dealing with the iTunes Store now and then. Annoyingly, you will sometimes get directed to "get more info" with a link, but when you click on it, you're just brought to the general Support page of Apple. That's not the quality of Apple docu that I am used to from awhile back.

The days of running stuff from admin accounts should be over already. Why take the risk. For Apple to promote it here and there is nuts.

Biggest iOS Gripe:
The skeomorphism and Maps. Fix them and you're all good.

Biggest OS X Gripe:
Again, the skeomorphism. Other than that, it's a great OS. Not liking the continued dumbing down of it though. Things like Hex codes for colours in the colour picker app were useful.

OS X and iOS merging?
No.

Sentence to Tim Cook:
'Tell me all of Apple's plans for the next 10 years '

Should Apple compete on features and specs?
To an extent, yes. Got to stay close, but at the same time not get bogged down by the number of cores, gigs of RAM etc.

Biggest Challenge:
Not losing too much ground to Android.

Devices I own:
iPhone 5, iPod shuffle, MacBook Pro, Thunderbolt Display, Apple TV. Share an iPad with the family.

1 year goal:
Design consistency in iOS. A better Final Cut Pro and Mac Pro.

Two year goal:
Retina iPad mini, iMac. iPhone 6. Streamline of product range.

Five year goal:
OS XI
Apple TV Set
