I have a MBP 15in that got "moisture damage" and apple wanted over $1200 to repair. It was purchased in October 06 and I hate the thought that it is just an expensive paper weight. Any Ideas?

What can I do with a MBP that fried its logic board?

If you don't have it repaied, you could part it out on ebay and get some money back, you also could probably find a working logicboard from ebay for less than $1200 and repair it yourself if you feel comfortable doing that. why isn't it covered under applecare though? you have had it for less than a year.

You can put it back into the box make it look new and next time a new MBP comes out walk into the store and out when the people are waiting to get one and smash it with a hammer in front of everyone and video tape it. If you acctually do that which i encourage you to do, post it on you tube and email me when you have done it. C'mon what do you have to lose!!!

What is it exactly that's broken..? If you know what's broken you could buy the part off e-Gay and just fix it yourself.
By "moisture damage" do you mean you went swimming with it in the ocean???
I can see why Apple wouldn't cover that under warranty.
Everyone else has said what to do if you want to keep using it as a computer. Ifixit has great guides and with patience you can do it yourself.
If you don't want to make money off of it or reuse it as a computer, I suggest recycling it into whatever floats your boat.

I got the Apple Care coverage BUT it will not cover moisture damage. That means if they think that it is possible that it got wet you are up a creek!! It wouldn't matter if I had it only one day. I ordered a new one but they were back ordered untill Aug. and they canceled my order. They notified me by e-mail that they were going to do this... I DON"T HAVE A LAP TOP. any way when I called to find out what was taking so long that is when I found out. They could send me a 17 inch right away if I wanted to upgrade. I thought it would be good business for them to just send me the 17 in sence I had already spent 2G on a MBP that is now a paperweight and was about to spend another 2G. They said no! the best they could do was give me $100 off and a cover so my new computer wont get moisture damage.
I went to Best Buys. They matched my Student Discount and their warentee covers water damage. The final nail in my coffin is that I got a "free" IPOD when I order from apple. I can not get the rebate now because I didnt purchase my MBP and IPOD at the same time and place. I got the free ingraving so I can't return it.

I love "moisture damage". That's like the service guys telling me they were just cleaning their screens, and I receive the laptop flooded with water.
Where is the creativity?
Yes I could video tape smashing my MBP with a hamer but I don't think it would get me on AFV, and turning it into a piece of art is interesting, still there must be more creative ideas out there that could help me recover $.
Moisture damage: 1.corrosion formed from a liquid of unknown oragin or high humidity coming in contact with metal vital parts. 2. The result of tossing my laptop into the ocean after finding out Apple will not fix it. 3. The state of my pants following the bad news.
