iPhone What can "Speed check reported ahead" be in apple maps?

What does it mean when during navigation, apple maps has verbal prompt notification pop up saying "Speed check reported ahead"?
can it be automatic speed camera that gives tickets? or only a speed trap with a police car waiting? i was on the highway in a work zone and now i'm paranoid. but then again ive never seen speed ticket cameras on a highway.
anyway what can speed check be?

What I think this means is that users have the capability to add a speed check notification to maps. I believe that this is warning following cars that there is some form of speef detection ahead so that you can reduce speed and not get a ticket.

As this is crowd sourced it can be any and all of the above including any other presence that makes someone report it as a "speed check". I've seen speed bumps reported as a speed check .

Obey the speed limit and you have no reason to be paranoid
