The squeal only occurs when you have noise cancelling enabled.

All you have to do is cover the grill on the top and put your finger over the opening of the ear piece and you will hear the squeal.

Any movement of the AirPods in your ear will make a squeal sound.

Which AirPods? I know you can get AirPods Max to do it but you have to do it on purpose by taking off the pads then putting it over your ears.

AirPods Pro.

Note the mods. It's confusing because I thought there was an AirPods Pro sub forum but when you click on that link it takes you to a more non forum oriented page.

You might take them to Apple. There's a free repair extension program for these when they have noise cancelling issues.

Yeah, make an appointment at an Apple Store and they will run some diagnostics on your AirPods. If they fail, they simply bring you out a new pair.

I guess it's "normal". Nothing a new pair will fix. Mine do that too. It's just that you block the microphones for ANC, just don't do that.

I bought third party foam tips that definitely made the pods squeal. After switching back to Apple’s tips it went away.
Leads me to believe you have a seal issue. Have you run that test in the settings app?

Have you disable Automatic Ear Detection and Noise Control? Turn Noise Control on after securely fitting your AirPods in your ears. If the issue persists, reset your AirPods and go to an Apple Store to have your earbuds repaired.
