What can't I do with only g Network?

I have older Mac computers and airport extreme base stations... I do not have any n network hardware.
With the new Apple TV can I still rent and purchase HD movies on the Apple TV 2 itself without a n network?
What capabilities am I missing out on without the n network?

Yes, everything will work fine. All you will miss out on is faster file sharing over the network.

I'm currently on a g network and have no issues.

Correct I have a n iMac but a g base station. For syncing photos and other content it takes longer, but for anything internet based, i.e. rental downloads, trailers, youtube, .mac, flickr, etc, your bottleneck is your broadband bandwidth, which will be slower than g even.

n = approx 200-250 mbps
g = approx 54 mbps
b = approx 11 mbps
cable internet = 3 to 6 mbps depending on provider
dsl = usually a bit slower than cable

the replys have referred to rentals - can I actually buy a HD movie to own and keep on the Apple TV or do I have to BUY a title on my computer and then have to stream it to the Apple TV (which I presume I cannot do with a g network - is it still true that you cannot stream HD from computer to Apple TV without n network)

To my understanding only rentals are available in HD. You cannot purchase HD through iTunes movie store, they only offer 640x for sale. And if you rip a DVD you can go to 720x. But I don't think you can rip HD and stream it, not b/c of network, but b/c Apple TV doesn't support it through iTunes, only through rentals. Something like that. It also all depends on what you mean by HD b/c HD rentals are not 1080p.
