I had a serious kernal panic this morning on my late 2008 Macbook Pro, running OSX Mountain Lion (10.8.2). Below is the log. Any input on what caused this problem would be greatly appreciated. I use this computer for business, so if I can mitigate an impending failure I will need to do so. The error occurred after I restarted my machine because Safari was perfornign slowly, and cursor and text input had become laggy and less responsive. The computer booted to the login screen, but then upon login I was twice confronted with a string of white text on black background generated over the login screen, and followed by an automatic reboot. On the third reboot the computer started normally, after I declined a prompt to reopen open programs.

Thanks:

The Macbook Pro 15" 5,1 officially supports only 4GB of RAM, but will accept 8GB. This appears to be what was causing the issues I identify above. When I switched the RAM modules out for the 4GB (2x2) ones, no more errors!
