C'mon lets be honest here apple is a big company but its obvious the iPhone has taken a huge chunk out of its resources, if there are any upgrades or changes to the imac what realistic ones are we going to see?

I have been waiting to upgrade my Mac Mini -> an iMac since the start of the year:(

my thoughts

Santa Rose based Mobo? They could, they should, but its a little quick after its release for apple dont you think?

Hard drive Bump? For Sure question is will it be 300GB, or 500Gb as standard.

Screen? its too soon for Led based but they could ramp the 20" to true 1920x1200 HD?

Redesign? would be nice but I think they will leave hold back for leopard

Colours? Yes, too many rumours not to, and due to the lack of a total redesign.

imho the best we can hopefor if apple do update the iMac before Leopard, is new Colors and a bump to the internal specs possibly offering the 7300gt as standard in the 20" and the 7600gt as standard in the 24"

WWDC isn't normally the place for flashy high-volume product introductions, just because the event is aimed at a more technical audience. Apple would more likely have a separate event (and they don't always even bother with that if the product doesn't actually look very different from its predecessor).

On higher density displays: anything is possible, but they are more likely to hold back on significant improvements until Leopard is available to support them properly.

LED backlighting will turn up whenever suppliers can offer something with suitable price/performance.

Don't forget the 30'' cinema display was announced at WWDC. It wasn't really a high-volume product, but it wasn't really targeted directly at developers either.

Moreover, if the speculation that the iMac might get a multitouch overhaul has any truth to it then WWDC would be a good venue for launch. Developers would likely want to know something about developing for the new UI.

Haven't forgotten, iSight was also introduced at a WWDC. But products that would be of interest to consumers are clearly the exception and not at all the rule.

I do not see them changing the 24" to anything higher than 1080p which AFAIK it is exactly right now.
The cinema displays would be more likely to upgrade their pixel density before iMacs surely.

It'd be nice to see the standard hard drive capacity rise but it's probably more than most home-users still need.
Could noise generated have anything to do with it as well?

WWDC is still basically the release for Leopard. Just because the master isn't going to ship until October it would not have any effect on hardware releases, IMO. Unless, of course, they had to pull all of their hardware designers to get the iPhone out on time. ;)

"THE" Leopard keynote will be at this WWDC as they always planned regardless of the ship date. They can't make all of the developers get together and not have all of the lectures necessary for Leopard.

I think there are a fair number of people who would like to see them return to the older lampshade form factor. I think the engineering though makes it to expensive. Rotate to potrait mode might work...

Dual HDDs that are user servicable would be nice. That way we get time machine built in.

4 ram slots in an iMac would be nice to get cheaper and more power.

I keep wondering when we will see HDMI/HDCP outputs on Macs. Seems to me Jobs would like the smaller form factor and the elimination of one cable.

Blu-ray

Small secondary screen to display widgets/iCal alerts. Touch screen?

Black

Better speakers

iSight as 2 MP camera as well

Quieter
