Hi all...

I am one who is thinking of purchasing an old refurb model. I am not exactly sure what I am going to get yet though. I have been checking out the refurb store and notice price differences on the same specs and models of imacs. The only differences I can see in them are some say they come with iLife 08 and others iLife 09. I can't see why this would make a $150-200 price difference though. I mean, can't you just update to 09 for $9.95 anyway? So.. I am wondering if I am missing something? i have never purchased from apple before (well not a computer) so I just want to be sure I make an informed decision. The obvious choice would be to go for the cheapest of the model I choose, but I won't do that if there is going to be a major difference in the imac itself. Help!!??!

I noticed starting today that there are both refurbs and new old stock in the refurb store. Fore example, there is a Refurbished iMac 20-inch 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo for $849 and a iMac 20-inch 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (previous generation) (non-refurb) for $999. These are actually the same model (FB323LL refurb or MB323LL new).

Hmmm...ok I see. I didn't realize they would put new (but old) inventory in the refurb store. Thanks!

I don't think they have before and it may be a mistake. The new (old stock) computers are usually in the clearance section I believe.

Like the poster above said, they have refurb and clearance, the clearance stock being the last-gen iMacs that were not sold.

Also, the generation also has an effect on the price. Last gen are obviously cheaper then the new ones, and the generation before that are cheaper. So a pre- 3/2008 iMac would be cheaper then a post 3/2008 iMac which is cheaper then the new ones released today.

The 24'' for $1199 is oh, so tempting. Unfortunately I don'y have any money so it doesn't matter. :) I'll probably pick up a current gen refurb once they hit the store.

I agree on the $1199 24" 2.8 iMac. That is the 2008 model, and I just ordered the mid-2007 2.4 model for $1299 and just got it delivered on 2/20. I called for a refund but since that specific model is not in the store they won't do anything about it.
