I saw in another thread that the 5th because of the name Mac OS X 10.5:apple:
How soon are MacBooks going to be available when the new OS comes out?

Everyday before the 31st is a blessing. They are still working on it and it takes 2 weeks at least to produce so it won't be till late October even if they finished it today. My guess is the 30th being that its a tuesday

Copied from my other posting

Here is my theory

Go by the numbers....
I have a friend who is really into number theories...

I think Apple will release in this fashion...

Announcment of "Apple Event" and count down timer on website - 10/5/07

First Event - 10/10 release of new Macbook's and Macbook Pro's (maybe Macbook Mini??)

Announcment of second "Apple Event" and count down timer on website - 10/15/07

Second Event - 10/30 Leopard release

Why...

10.5 could be 10+5=15 and 15+15=30

Crazy, but just crazy enough to be true!!!

1. certainly not the 5th (its not even done yet, and like previously stated it takes 2 weeks to mass produce it)

2. macbooks are available today, tomorrow and the day leopard is released i dont understand what you're asking

Why would they have 2 events?

I don't think there are going to be any new products released. They were just updated recently. No new laptops until January.

Would make sense to announce release date on the 5th though.

My bets are on a 30th or 31st release though.
